Chapter 56: Moon Baby.

Peasnie is in the studio with her band, the guys are in the studio recording too. Graduation is coming up at tomorrow, Prom is tonight and Peasnie and her friends are going to Vegas for a road trip on tomorrow after grad. All is normal.

I can’t say I’d want to be dead for all these things, seeing my daughter record her first song, play her first head line and graduation with Honors. But you’ve got to think where would we be if I was alive? Maybe there was a reason, a higher power to why I died. Maybe the reason I died was to show people that they can’t take their favourite bands and members for granted because one day you’ll get the news that one of the members have died and year by year each die as well. I can’t even think of there being no more Avenged but sadly it’s true. You’ve just got to jump into it and enjoy the run while it lasts.

Seeing Peasnie behind those drums, making her dreams come true was the proudest a father could feel. With every song she unleashed her inner demon and poured all her emotions out into it and that’s how it’s supposed to be done, don’t play with your head. Play with your heart and soul because that’s where the real music comes from.

They’re working on their song Moon Baby; it’s so fucking heavy but so good. Much heavier sounding than what we used to do. They get back in the studio on Wednesday the day after they get back. I know for a fact they’ll regret that when it comes time to play.

The guys sat around with Arin in the lunch room of the recording studio. Arin seemed tense but he acted cool. Brian knew there was something up so did Zack. Johnny was too busy texting his girlfriend and Matt were down right oblivious. I sat in an empty seat watching them all.

Brian leaned forward in his seat with a frown; he caught Arin’s attention quickly. Everybody looked up at him when he cleared his voice broadly.

“I have something that I want to ask you.” Arin said quietly. Brian and Matt shared a glance while Zack shifted in his seat. Johnny put down his phone and folded his hands on the table. Arin squirmed in his seat slightly and looked down. I sat there confused and curious. What was he doing? He better not be telling them he wants to break up with Peasnie not after what they were up too a couple weeks ago. If Matt knew his head would literally explode or he’d kill both of them. I’m not kidding.

“What is it Arin?” Zack asked curiously. Arin blushed slightly and looked at all four of the very intimidating men. They stared at the poor kid intensely.

“I thought that I should do this right and ask you for permission to ask Peasnie to marry me.” He announced sullenly. I nearly fell out of my seat when he asked that. I’m sure the guys were too. They did not see that coming since Peasnie isn’t really the marrying type. She’s scared that love will destroy her like it did her family. I know this because I’ve read her diary, there is nothing better to do all day.

“She’s a strong, independent girl who’s an amazing musician and an even better person and I love her with every ounce of my humanity.” Arin only gave them reason to say yes by saying all those things about Peasnie. He loved her enough to ask her uncles, the men who look like they can take down a boy friend with a single glance. He’s a good kid. I smiled and nodded.

“Arin, welcome to the family.” I said happily. They couldn’t hear me but it was worth a try. I watched as Matt looked at Brian, those two are the enforcers and they’ll protect Peasnie even when she doesn’t need it. Zack is the one who’d let her drive without a license and take her to the cemetery when they needed a serene place to sit and think. And Johnny is the one who’d make her laugh when she doesn’t even want to smile. All together they’re the perfect father.
