Chapter 36: Happy Days.

My eyes opened to see the dimly lit ceiling; I woke with a smile on my face. I’ve been smiling so much these last few days. Can you blame me? I went nearly fifteen years without a true love feeling and now it’s back. I let out a dreamy sigh as I lay in the bed on my back; the duvet was tucked under my arms tightly binding my chest down. I smiled dreamily up at my pail white ceiling. My hands were folded on my stomach.

I was really going to get married, I’m really going to be able to be a rock star with a huge family and when I’m too old to drum I’ll open my own bar and bartend. I’ll be able to yell at my kids for doing stupid things and I’ll praise them for making me proud. Rosie and I planned out everything over the two days I was there. I met her kids; damn you can defiantly see the guys in those kids. Other than that they’re pretty much their own people. Rosie and I have been texting each other for the last few days that I’ve been home, she’s keeping me well informed on the latest happenings in her kids’ lives and our baby, our second baby.

Peasnie still is clueless, I’ll tell her soon; just need to wait the perfect moment. I didn’t know how she’ll react; Peasnie and Rosie don’t really have the best relationship in the world. But I told Peasnie that I hooked up with her mom a few weeks ago. She wasn’t happy but she knew we were in love. She knows because she remembers seeing old photos of us together before she was born. She told me flat out that she’d much rather me get back with her mother than get back together with Lacy.

Oh right, Lacy. As soon as her baby is born there will be a DNA test, this is insanity. If I am Lacy’s baby’s dad then in a year I would’ve gained two infants. Rosie knows about Lacy as well. She knows that I might be her baby’s dad. I think I’m going to keep ‘it’ in my pants for a while. That’ll be best because in two years I’ll have gained two maybe three biological children and four other kids. I feel like trailer trash for saying I have two different baby mamas. Luckily I only sleep with girls I know and have dated for a while. Either way this is my biggest dream come true.

I flipped the blanket off my body, my black boxer shorts were ridden up my legs slightly and my bare chest was chilled instantly. I shivered but that didn’t stop me from practically jumping to the window and throwing the curtains open to see the sunny morning ahead. My eyes squinted slightly before they adjusted. I didn’t care if the neighbors saw me like this; it’s basically like a bathing suit, right? The morning was nice and sunny, not a cold in the sky for mid November. The warming air hit my skin and warmed me up nicely. I smiled and jogged to my dresser with a whistling tune I opened it and threw on some jeans. I nearly fell over trying to get them on.

I ditched my room and did the electric slide to Peasnie’s bedroom door with a cheery whistle. The wood door was tall and broad; she had a white board stuck onto the door with her name on it. On the door there were posters of her and her friends on it, even the boyfriend.

I’ve met Connor. I know she can do better. But she needs to learn. I know someone perfect for her but he’s a bit older, he’s about twenty-one now. Arin, he’s a good kid, I know if Peasnie were to have brought Arin home one day and said she was head over heels in love with him I’d be proud. I would be worried about the age difference but she’s a big girl and she knows the rules. And he’s a respectable and responsible young man that I’d be proud to welcome into my family. He’s on a good path in life, no drugs or anything. He knows how to treat a lady, he’s smart and if I can say this without sounding like a creeper; he’s rather handsome.

Mental note to self: Introduce Peasnie to Arin. I know she’ll completely forget about this Connor fellow.

Connor asked a random fourteen year old girl for a lift to a bus station then helped her go from state to state by herself, by bus. If Arin were to have done that he’d have made sure she got a ride straight from Chicago. I’m grateful for what Peasnie’s done to get here but I want her to be a teenager and date older guys to make me nearly have a heart attack through worry when she’s not home on time or when she doesn’t answer her phone because she’s having a good time. Age is just a number after all.

I opened it, the bedroom was dark and in the bed was one big lump that snored softly, slightly wheezing as well. I smiled with a lively chuckle and went over to her bed, Peasnie’s been back to school for a week now, she has a talent competition in the beginning of December. I’m so proud of her.

I went over to her side and jumped onto the empty side of the bed, her blue eyes flew open with surprise. She was doing a lot better but she still needed to take the antibiotics until all of the infection was out of her system. She looked at me with a confused expression, her thin, dark eye brows pulled together. I’m so happy Matt isn’t the father of this teenage girl. Honestly no one believed it either. Neither Matt nor Rosie has blue eyes and Peasnie does, I do as well.

“G’morning sunshine.” I greeted creepily. Peasnie looked at me with a pail complexion, her eyes were ringed with dark circles and she looked an ashy white. She did look a lot better than what she did when she was really sick. But she had no colour on her skin, just ghostly white with ashy cheeks and darkened eyes. Her lips were a bright pink and slightly pursed.

“Dad, its Saturday,” She turned her head to the alarm clock on her nightstand, her head snapped back to me with wide blue eyes.

“-And it’s 6:30 in the morning!” She exclaimed loudly, her voice was raspy and slightly ripped. I smiled widely and sank into the bed, making myself comfortable.

“I’m sorry; I just wanted to wake up bright and early.” I smiled weirdly at her. She gave me a confused expression and curiously tilted her head against her pillow.

“Well, here we are; up bright and early on a Saturday.” She whispered softly to me. I nodded and pulled her into me for a hug. I was extremely happy right now; I don’t think I’ve ever been this happy before. Maybe I was this happy when I first saw Peasnie when she was being born. That was the best day of my life. Peasnie pushed me away and laughed lively. I looked at her smiling widely.

“What’s up dad, why are you so happy?” She asked curiously. I felt my cheeks redden brightly and my smile became controlled. I shrugged slightly and crocked a grin.

“I’m just really happy today. You want to go into Hollywood for some shopping?”I asked curiously. Peasnie’s hand pressed against my forehead and she sighed heavily. She sat up in the bed, her long hair was tied back and she wore a Metallica tee shirt with shorts.

“Well, you’re not sick. Now, tell me what’s making you so happy.” She demanded sullenly. I stretched out on the bed and sighed heavily. I stared at the ceiling with a creepy smile.

“I don’t know, I guess it’s the dawn of a new day.” I said ironically. Peasnie tipped her head back and laughed slightly.

“Can I get up, get ready and watch at least Invader Zim?” Peasnie asked curiously. I nodded and smiled as I rolled off the bed, my legs were stiff but not sore. By the time I was off the bed and in the hall, Peasnie was already down in the kitchen making her a cup of tea. This is going to be a good day.
