Chapter 57: Unbreak Me, Unchain Me, I Need Another Chance to Live.
I stood in the corner of the auditorium with my hands folded in front of me, watching as Peasnie’s graduation was perfect. I had tears in my eyes by seeing this sight, she wore her robe and cap with pride and honor. I knew she made Valid Victorian but I didn’t know how her speech was going to go. The entire family was here, sadly even Rosie. But I wasn’t going to let Rosie being here ruin the pride and happiness I had for Peasnie. I’m so proud that she’s bettering herself; she’s taking revenge on all those who made fun of her. Her band is in the recording studio, she’s going to college, she’s getting married and living a happy life; just like I’ve wanted for her, her entire life.
I smiled at the recent memory of Matt waking her up this morning after she came in from a long night of partying. He tickled the bottom of her foot, just like I used too. And she gave him the same reaction she used to give me. The lingering memories made me feel lonely but not alone. I might be in a room full of people but no one can see me.
The Black haired teacher went up to the microphone and smiled slightly as she handed the last kid his diploma. She bent down and smiled widely.
“Last but not least, class of 2013’s valid Victorian Peasnie Sullivan to make her speech!” She announced. I inhaled deeply and clapped my hands, cheering for her but the guys were louder than I was. Peasnie nervously went up onto the stage. She looked scared and nervous. She wore a white blouse and black jeans under her robe. Her makeup done like it normally is and her hair was slightly straightened but it had a wavy, curl to it. She accepted her diploma with a shy and nervous smile and shook the teacher’s hand happily. I could see her blue eyes scanning the large room carefully before she inhaled deeply. I crossed my fingers that she didn’t faint or screw up.
“I stand here today to say Good-Bye to the early mornings and late nights that I used to call high school. I say Good-Bye to the good days and the bad days that roam these halls.” Her voice sounded nervous but it had a steadiness to it. I smiled a little at her as she stood there with her diploma in her hands. She’s done it; she’s made it through high school and is Valid Victorian. There are no words to put how proud I am of her.
“Today I passed high school with some and for some of you, good luck next year.”She paused for another deep breath. She was doing so well, I can’t believe she’s already here, seems like yesterday she was just a little bundle of blankets in my arms.
“I stand here because I worked hard for what I want. I was once told if you want something bad enough you’ll spend the rest of your life living it. I look out right now to see some people who want to become writers or musicians but they were forced into doing something they didn’t want to do. I pitty those people.”She stopped and looked down at the guys; they all wore proud and happy expressions on their faces. It’s like this was a health project and they all had to raise and kid together and bend her and mold her and shape her into a person who is strong and independent.
“They tried for something they wanted and failed and that right there should make them pass automatically because I’d rather do something I love and fail, over something I hate and pass.” She made a good point there which only adds to the pride and respect I had for her. She slowed her words as she gazed down at the guys and girls, her family with a smile.
“I’d rather argue with family than pretend everything is alright.” She spoke with dignity and heart. I could see Brian had tears in his eyes while Matt tried to keep back his sobs of joy. Zack smiled like a moron and Johnny was intent on her words.
