Chapter 4

"you didn't have to walk with me ya know? It's only like a 5 minute walk" me and Calum have been in silence for the past couple of minutes and it's beginning to get a little bit awkward.

"no I did, it's getting late and you shouldn't walk by yourself at night" I can't tell whether he's actually being serious or having a little bit of a joke? But I'm guessing it's a bit of a joke, he can't be serious right?

"well I'm very capable of walking by myself thank you"

"your very stubborn aren't you?" I know he's looking at me but I refuse to look at him

"what would make you think that?"

"well, firstly you wouldn't let me pay for you back at the restaurant and now you don't want me to walk you home plus you won't look at me" he said it as if I had almost upset him by declining his offers and not looking at him, so I turn to face him

"it's not that I'm stubborn, I just don't like relying on people" it's true I don't but I don't want Calum thinking I'm stubborn because I'm not

"how are you relying on me if I'm offering?"

"well I'm not but I don't want you to, I mean, I'd rather be independent when it comes to money and stuff, I like to handle it myself" I'm fumbling at my words, why has Calum got me tongue tied?

"it doesn't always have to be like that ya know?"

"like what?"

"you don't always have to be independent and do thinks on your own, I mean it's cool if you want some alone time now and then but it's good to come out and be social" Is he calling me anti-social?

"so you're calling me anti-social" I'm quite offended

"no no no I'm not saying that at all, what I'm saying is that you're pretty good company and I think if you spoke a bit more, like you are right now to me, just casual, then people would listen to you an acknowledge you and some may even ask you on a date" what did he just say?

We stopped outside my house and I stood staring at him and he stood staring back at me. I can't believe what he just said, was he actually implying that he wanted to ask me on a date? He can't be, that's impossible, he couldn't possibly like me could he? No, no way, but the more I look into his big brown eyes, the more I think he could.

"soo" we both said at the same time which made us laugh

"thanks for walking me home an everything, I um, I appreciated it"

"your welcome, I'd do it anytime" he said it as if he was nervous, why would he be nervous?

I gave him a quick wave, got my keys out and began to unlock the door but just as I'm about to step in, it happens.

"Lexi wait!" he comes jogging up the path and I just want to know what he's going to say

"yeah" the anticipation is killing me but I don't know why?

"would you um, like to maybe, hang on let me start again" I started to giggle because he had gone red and he was nervous, it was actually cute

"Lexi, may I take you on a date some time? Say next Friday?" this time there was a bit more confidence about what he was saying and I had no idea what to say

"only if you promise to walk me home more often" am I flirting with Calum? I didn't expect that

"deal, so is that a yes?" I can see that the suspense is killing him

"I guess it is then" as I said it I began to smile because so did Calum and he looked generally happy.

As he walked away, i realised I forgot to say goodnight so I shouted to him

"Night Hood" and he turned around quickly at the use of his surname

"Night Grey" and with that, he gave me his classic smirk and walked off and it was then that I realised, I just agreed to a date with Calum Hood.
