"Are you ready for this?"
I glanced at Shane from the corner of my eye (yes, I finally learned his name) while gripping my machete in my hand. Yes, I was ready. I was ready to either get eaten alive or save a boy's life. Either way, I was doing something for the good.
"Okay, stay next to me. We will make it if we stay together, got it?" Shane asked, cocking his gun.

"Got it," Otis nodded. He looked to me for reassurance and I gave him a simple nod. Shane paused for a moment before heading towards the doors. Walkers noticed us immediately and began coming for a snack. I wasted no time, I charged in front of Shane and began wasting them one by one.

"Elizabeth, no!" Shane growled, wanting me to stay behind him. I paid no attention to him. I was skilled with knives and I wanted to save this boy. I continued killing them one by one until I gave us a clear shot to the door. They had barely fired five shots and I had killed at least two dozen. And he thought I was slow him down? Psh. It seemed to me like they were slowing me down.

I glanced back at them for a moment before kicking the doors open. Shane was right behind me, Otis was a little farther behind but he was catching up quickly. I opened the doors and we all ran inside. I didn't see many walkers sadly. I thought of killing them as a sport. It got my aggression out.

"Jesus, girl. You're good with a knife, you know that?" Shane said, trying to catch his breath. I gave Shane a small smile and waited until he smiled back to begin raiding the cabinets. Shane and Otis did the same. I knew exactly what I was looking for, so Otis really could've stayed behind. God, I wish he would've. I began grabbing bandages, painkillers, gloves, any surgical supply I could find. I stuffed them all in my bag and came across exactly what we needed. A respirator.
"I found it!" I shouted, quickly picking it up and placing it carefully in the bag. I also found the tubes, so we had everything that we needed.

"Okay, I have it all," I said, zipping up the bag.
Shane smiled and spoke up again, "Okay. On my count, got it?"
More like on my count. I could get in and out of this place easily. Apparently they didn't understand that rubbing walkers blood on you would cover your stench. I guess I was sort of an expert on this.

Shane gave the count and we all ran out of the trailer. But it wasn't a pretty sight. There were more walkers than before and I knew that we wouldn't be able to take them all out. I glanced at my old school and felt impending doom coming.

FLASHBACK

"Elizabeth! Thank God. What are you still doing here?"
I heard Beth's voice chime through the hallways to my ears. I was sitting in front of my locker with a bottle of vodka tucked neatly under my leg. The last thing I needed was a teacher finding me drinking. Then again, they all left.

Beth's footsteps tapped across the hallway and all of the sudden she was in front of me.
"Daddy is worried sick. Do you know what time it is? School ended two hours ago, why are you do-"
She stopped when she saw that I had been crying. She also saw the bottle glimmering under my leg and sympathy crossed her face as she sat down next to me. I ran my fingers across the cool necklace that was in my hand and frowned.
"We're back to this again? Elizabeth, he's gone. He isn't coming back, okay? I understand that it hurts...It's gonna hurt, but it wasn't meant to be.
"
I felt a tear slide down my cheek again, but I quickly wiped it away. She didn't understand. She didn't understand the pain I was feeling.
"Come on. He wasn't good for you. That's exactly what you get for messing around with older guys. You just better be glad daddy didn't know his age. He would be dead right now," she said, trying to sympathize with me.
"It just hurts. I loved him so much...and now, he just left. He hasn't texted me in months. He was so terrible when he broke up with me. I haven't been hurt like that before."
