I was awakened the next morning with my door being slammed shut. My first instinct was to grab the knife next to my bed, but when I saw who it was I stopped.
"Maggie?" I asked with sleep still on my tongue. Fear was on her face as she rushed over to my bed. Oh shit, somebody's dead. Something bad happened.

"We have a problem," she said with alert high in her voice. All sleep left my body as I jumped up and stared at her. She was at the edge of my bed and I could tell that she hadn't gotten any sleep at all. "Is it daddy? Did somebody get hurt?"
Maggie shook her head and pulled something out of her pocket, "What? No, look at this."

She handed me a small piece of paper that had two different sets of handwriting on it. I could easily tell one was hers.
"Last night at dinner, Glenn and I passed a note," she said with her voice shaking. I read it and tried to keep my laughter at a minimum. "You were going to fuck in the barn?"
Maggie snatched the note away and slapped me on the leg, "Yes, okay? And watch your mouth, Elizabeth. We were going to meet in the barn."

I sensed the emphasis on the word "barn" but I wasn't sure what she meant. Did she get some hay in the wrong places or something? I shrugged after a few seconds of thinking and yawned.
"Elizabeth, what's in the barn?" she asked with impatience in her voice.
When I finally realized what she meant, my eyes grew far too big for my head. "Maggie, tell me Glenn didn't see the walkers in the barn."

"He saw them, Liz. He knows everything now," she said as she bit her bottom lip. I let out a gasp and started at her in the darkness of my room. "Will he tell anybody? Do the others know?"
She shook her head. "No, I think I convinced him to keep quiet. I don't think he will tell," she nodded.
I let out a deep breath, "That's good. Nobody can find out. I don't even want to imagine that the others would do if they figured it out."

She nodded in agreement and stood up after a moment, "I'm going to town with Glenn today."
I smiled at her and began pulling on my shoes, "Good plan. Keep giving him the goods and he will keep quiet, I know he will."
Maggie punched me in the shoulder and gave me an angry look, "Shut up, Elizabeth."

I gave her another grin and we began descending downstairs. Teasing Maggie was my specialty.
"Shane and Rick want to take us shooting. Patricia and Beth are going, I think it would be best for you to go with 'em," Maggie said once we reached the bottom of the stairs. Shooting? My aim was great. I didn't need to practice.
"I'm not going with them. I don't need practice. I can find something productive to do here," I said as I crossed my arms on my chest. I didn't feel like going to shoot cans or whatever the fuck we were doing. Maybe Beth and Patricia didn't know how to shoot, but I did. I was an excellent aim, Maggie knew that.

"I really suggest you go. Daddy doesn't want you around Daryl. He nearly got you killed," Maggie said in a hushed tone. I wasn't going anywhere.

I scoffed at Maggie and exited the house without another word. Shooting practice? Who had that dumb idea? I laughed in spite of myself and noticed people getting into cars. I saw Beth climb into one of them. "Shooting practice," I whispered to myself and laughed. I watched them pull away and then saw Daryl climb out of his tent. I knew daddy would be pissed that I didn't go with them, but I didn't care honestly. I didn't wanna play their reindeer games.

Daryl noticed me and quickly began approaching me. He still had the bandage wrapped around the wound on his head and he looked rather confused. "Where are they goin'?"
I unfolded my arms from my chest and started walking towards Daryl, "Shooting practice. How ridiculous is that? They think we don't know how to protect ourselves."

Daryl watched their cars pull away and he scoffed. "They ain't that good themselves."
My eyes drifted to my home and I realized that all of the curtains were pulled back. Daddy could easily see Daryl and I standing here together. "Do you want to go sit behind that big tree over there?"
Daryl's head slowly turned towards me and he got a cocky look on his face. "I ain't playing hide and go seek with you if that's what you mean."
