I slowly opened my eyes and allowed the daylight to flow into my soul. I knew it would be a good day. Everyday was a good day now. You could only be happy without memories to haunt you.
I slowly sat up on the couch as I looked over at the chair in hopes of finding Lily. She wasn't there, however. I had hoped she was somewhere in the house. She was the only friend I had.
I pushed myself off of the couch and moved to the other side of the house. I noticed that two of the doors were nailed shut, so she couldn't be in there. She wasn't in the other room either.
I was kind of confused at this point. Did she leave me? Why would she leave me here without saying goodbye?I shrugged to myself and figured I would find her outside somewhere. I would have to find some clothes first though. This hospital gown was really going out of style. I rushed to the room that wasn't nailed up. It had a dirty old bed and a dresser. There had to be clothes in there.
I quickly opened it and became very pleased to find an outfit inside. The sweater would be too big for me, but I wasn't too picky. Anything would be better than this old thing.
I slowly tossed the gown on the floor as I began pulling on the jeans followed by the sweater. I still had no shoes, but that wasn't an immediate problem. It wasn't very cold outside these days. I wasn't worried about getting sick.
I heard some footsteps behind me as I spun around to show off my new look to Lily. I wasn't expecting her to be so jealous of my clothes that she would pull a gun on me.
Lily stood there aiming her pistol at me. She was shaking violently with every breath she took. I didn't understand why she was pointing that thing at me. She could have the clothes if she wanted them that badly.
"What's that thing for?" I asked with a confused look on my face. "If you want the clothes that bad then take them."
"You're crazy," Lily whispered to me with a shaky voice. "You could hurt somebody."
I was so shocked at her words. "I would never hurt somebody, why would you say that?"
Lily nodded her head at me as she got tears in her eyes. "You have hurt people. And you will again. You need help."
She was right. I did need help. I needed help finding some shoes and some food for us later. That's the only way we could make it. We had to work together."I do need help. We need to go find supplies," I replied to her in a playful tone. I didn't want her thinking I was mad at her for aiming that thing at me. I wasn't mad. I just wanted her to put it away so we could leave.
"I can't let you run around out there," Lily said as she shook her head. "My sister is out there. I can't let you get to people."
I rolled my eyes at her words and walked past her without a care in the world. I knew that she was not going to pull the trigger, so why would I be scared?
She kept the gun aimed at my previous spot despite the fact that I was heading for the door. We would have to move fast if we wanted to get supplies before it became dark out.
"Like I said, we need to go find supplies.""I wont go anywhere with you," Lily admitted as she faced me with the gun. I was honestly getting so tired of the gun, it had to go. I couldn't just take it from her. That would mean taking her only way of self-defense.
"I will go alone then," I said with a simple nod.
I gave her one last glance before I hurried out of the door. I didn't want her to decide to pull the trigger, so I had to get out of there quickly.
I rushed out in a hurry and slammed the door behind me. I knew that Lily wouldn't be following me. I also knew that she was relying on me to find us food and water.I took one last glance at the house before disappearing into the woods without a sound. I didn't know where I was going, but I knew I would stumble upon something eventually.
I wandered through the woods for what seemed like hours before I finally realized I was being followed. I was trying to ignore the footsteps behind me, but I couldn't anymore. I had really hoped it was Lily, but I somehow knew it wasn't. I spun around quickly to find an unfamiliar face staring back at me.
A woman with short grey hair and worn clothes gazed at me as if she knew who I was. I didn't really know this woman. Something about her was kinda familiar, but I couldn't figure out what it was. She watched my every move as I slowly backed away from her. She had blood on her shirt and I could tell she had killed something recently. I didn't wanna be the next victim.
She stared at me with complete confusion as she watched me slowly try to get away from her."Elizabeth?"
