"Is that him?" I gasped, looking at a figure in the distance.
Daryl put a hand up, motioning for me to lower my voice. I couldn't lower my voice. I was too shocked at what I was seeing.
I knew that it had to have been Randall standing there. It was his clothes..it was his hair.
But it wasn't him. He was a walker, we all knew that.
"That's him," Glenn whispered once Randall had turned around. I could see his face faintly through the moonlight.
His features had changed to fit his new form. He was most certainly a walker. So, Shane was right.
Randall had been bit after he got away from Shane. He was right all along. I just never suspected that Randall was capable of such a thing. He was always so kind, so understanding. But I guess when you're desperate you'll do anything.
"What do we do?" I whispered, now turning my attention to Daryl. It was obvious what we had to do.
We had to put Randall out of his misery. I couldn't stand seeing him like that. After knowing him for years, it hurt me to see him in that state. Daryl shook his head and looked down at me, "Do you want to be the one to do it?"
My initial reaction was to scream at him, but I had to think this over. Did I want to be the one to do it? I knew Randall, they didn't. But I didn't want to do this. I didn't have the stomach to do this.
Daryl's hand brushed against mine for a split second before he pulled away. I felt as if he was about to hold my hand, but he didn't. I understood why. We weren't exactly on the best terms. "You do it, please. I can't," I replied as I looked up at him with desperate eyes. He gazed into my eyes for a moment before nodding. We all began moving in silence.
We didn't want Randall to know that we were there. And he didn't know. Once we were right behind him, Daryl drove a knife into his skull in a quick motion. Seeing that broke my heart, but it was the right thing to do. I didn't want Randall walking around lifeless. At least now he would find peace.
After he did that, Daryl began inspecting him. I wasn't quite sure why he was doing it at first, but I didn't question him. After rolling him over a few times and feeling around, Daryl finally spoke. "He ain't been bit."
When he said those words, I was completely shocked. How could he be a zombie without being bitten? It didn't make any sense to me at all. "How is that possible?"
Daryl shook his head and stared down at Randall. "I don't know. His neck is broke." Shane...of course Shane did this. If he wouldn't broken his neck fighting a zombie, the zombie would've devoured him.
"Shane did this. I know he did," I replied in an angry voice. "And how do you know that?" Glenn asked me after a moment. How did you not know? The evidence was right there. It had Shane written all over it.
"He didn't break his neck fighting a zombie. If he did, the zombie would've eaten him. I don't know how he turned into a zombie, but I know Shane killed him," I replied as I stuck my knife back in my boot. I know Shane did this. And I knew that I was going to find him. He would not get away with this. I would kill him if I had to.
"Where do you think you're going?" Daryl demanded as I began fixing my knife in my boot.
I didn't answer him, I simply took off in the direction that Rick and Shane went. I was going to find that son of a bitch. He was going to pay for what he had done. He thought he had gotten away with it, but he was dead wrong.
"Elizabeth!" Daryl screamed after me. I could hear his footsteps behind me, so I sped up. I knew that I would lose him eventually. He couldn't keep up with me if I faded into the darkness. "Elizabeth, no!"
After a few moments, Daryl's footsteps ceased and so did his voice. I had successfully gotten away from him. I knew that he would be pissed at me, but my anger was taking over. Shane had done something terrible and he was probably about to do something even worse. Of course. That's why he did this. He's going to kill Rick. That's why he didn't want me going with them. I cursed to myself and kept going as fast as I possibly could. A few walkers appeared from the darkness, but I was able to dodge them. I never thought Shane was this crazy.
