Clementine stays still on her bed, while AJ kicked the wall in frustration. He had been doing that for 10 whole minutes. Just when she had had enough-

"AJ, stop! You'll... break your toe or something." Clementine shouted, obviously annoyed. He ignored Clementine's angry remark and continued to kick the wall furiously. Her face softens.

"Come here, sit down."

"No!" Clementine's eyes widened at the boy's sudden outburst. "I-it didn't work! I did what you said, and they didn't even care!" Clementine stays silent.

"I know I was bad, but-but they don't wanna let me fix it!" He turns back to the wall, ready to kick it again.

"AJ, breathe. Remember what we do when we're mad?" AJ starts to kick the wall again. "C'mon, you don't wanna be loud, do you? What do we do when we're mad?"

AJ stops. "We stop, and think, and um..." He turns to face Clementine. "I'm still really, really mad. I know I'm not supposed to get mad or sad, because, then I do dumb things."

"And you have every right to be. But you need to calm down. When we get mad we brea-"

"Breathe." AJ takes deep breaths, in and out, in and out. When he stops, he still frowns.

"You still mad, huh?" He stays silent.

"I-I think I'm sad too..." AJ starts to trudge over to the bed. "Why did you tell me to do it if it didn't work..?"

"I didn't know that it wouldn't work, kiddo. I thought that they might forgive us. We'll work something out." Clementine pulls AJ into a hug.

They break apart when they hear the door creak. They see Louis and Violet.

"We took the vote. You have to leave." Violet looks down at the ground with shame. "We'll wait for you to pack up and we'll take you outside the safe zone. We'll make sure you make it to the road safely."

"We appreciate it." Clementine says, nodding her head.

_____ (time skip cuz i'm lazy: they make it on the road)

"Are we going to the car?" AJ asks.

"No bud, it's broken." Clementine replies.

"Good. I'm sick of the car." He pauses for a second. "So... we're walking now?"

"Yup."

"But... my feet are gonna bleed again."

"We'll tear up a shirt and wrap it up if we have to."

"It's not so bad." Louis blurted out. Clementine and Violet glare at him. "I mean, you've guys done this before. This should be just like going home... or something."

"How the fuck are you saying that? You've lived in walls your whole life. We've been on the road and almost died several times by it."

Louis frowns, regretting what he said. Violet stops. "We're here." She points to her left with her shoulder. "The road's that way."

"Any last words?" She asks Louis. He looks down at the ground, looking for the words to say. "I've said plenty." He gave up.

"Thanks for trying to keep us." AJ said sadly. Violet gave him a sad smile.

"You're welcome. I wish you could stay."

Once everyone said their goodbyes, it was time to go their separate ways.

______

Louis and Violet walked back in the direction of the school.

"You're a dumbass, you know that?" Violet blurted out. Louis frowned at her.

"It had to happen, Violet. AJ killed Marlon-"

"Bullshit! Marlon traded Sophie and Minnie, not to mention, he fucking killed Brody! And you're just gonna let him get away with that!?" She continued. "If you had ANY fucking common sense, you would know that AJ was just trying to protect us all. And now look, you fucking kicked them out and by the time we get to the school, they'll be dead."

Louis stayed silent. Violet was right. They could be in trouble for all they know. But... AJ murdered Marlon! He couldn't just get away with it. Ever since the day Clementine got here, Louis has felt something that he hasn't felt in a long time. And now, they're gone. Partially because of him.

Just then, the two heard AJ shout, "Clementine!" Causing them to jump.

"Come on! We have to move!" Violet called out to Louis while running in the opposite direction. Louis obeyed and followed along.

______

A gunshot rang out through the woods, making Clem and AJ to quickly hide behind a bush. A middle-aged man with different colored eyes and a missing arm came out with a shotgun in hand. The man from the train station. "C'mon, I saw you and your boy out here!" He called out to them.

Clementine ran up to him to disarm him with her knife in her hand. He fell to the ground. All of a sudden, Clementine felt a gun press to the back of her head. The man got up, and hit her in the stomach. She fell to the ground, breathlessly as she tried to reach for her knife. Sadly, the man kicked away. A heavy shoe was placed on her neck, making it difficult to breathe.

Clementine hears AJ groan in pain when the man pulls AJ's arm behind his back.

"I seen these two before. Fighters, both of 'em. You'll like them."

"We're looking for a kid, runs a community around here."

"He's dead."

"Well, shit."

"This can still work." The man said.

"How about it? You want to take us back to your school, help us talk to your friends?"

"It's not my school, I don't live there."

The woman presses her boot harder on Clem's neck, making her grunt. "I find that very hard to believe. Not a lot of kid communes around here."

The man pulls AJ's arm more, causing him to yell in pain.

"Don't!" Clementine shouted. "Let him go! Please!"

"Sure, if you do like we ask. Otherwise, I'm happy to crack his head open." He threatened. "You ever seen an old fruit explode after you throw it at something? That's just how it'll look."

"Abel." The woman said sternly.

The woman kicks Clementine in the face, knocking her onto her back. "Clementine!" AJ yells. She sits up and sees the woman looking at her wide-eyed. "Oh my god. Clementine, it's you?" Clem cocks her head to the side. She knows me? How? She thought.

"I... my name is Lilly."
