Chapter 24: Lost

Summary: The school sets up some new jobs for everyone, only to realize that things take a whole new turn.

Ericson's have been through a lot of "events". The raiders were finally gone, and everyone could finally rest. But, many people died. That meant there were less people to do their jobs. Aasim would go hunting with Louis, Violet would go fishing Brody, and Sophie and Minnie would go on supply runs. So Javier and Clementine got up earlier in the morning to set up the new jobs.

Clem: Fisherwoman & Fighter (for group)
Ruby & Kate: Medic
Omar: Cook
AJ: Patrol
Tenn & Willy: Lookout
Mitch: Lookout & Hunter
Luke: Co-Leader
Javier: Leader

Once the jobs were finally given to everyone, they all got to work.

Clementine held the spear in her hand, focusing on getting one of the fish that were quickly passing by her, taunting her. Clem furrowed her eyebrows as she plunged the spear right into the river. She pulled it out and smiled to herself when she saw the fish on the end of the blade, still wiggling its tail. (I'm sorry y' all didn't need to hear that XD)

Clementine dropped the fish into the bucket and turned back to the river. She focused on her target and plunged the spear in the river once again, this time missing. She groaned in annoyance as she stepped away from the river, giving up. Clementine walked towards the shack and opened the door, checking her surroundings. Although the raiders were gone, she still felt uneasy.

Clem placed the spear in its normal spot and walked back outside to grab the bucket. She checked inside it. 4 fish. Hopefully, Gabe and Louis caught more rabbits.

"Any luck?" A voice spoke from behind her. Clementine looked behind her to see Gabe crossing his arms with a small smile on his face. Clem shrugged in response.

"Better than nothing. 4 fish." Clem responded. "What about you?"

"Not much luck. Only 3 rabbits. We're gonna have to expand the safe zone."

"I agree. I'll talk to Javi about it." Clementine paused. "Where's Louis?"

"We agreed— pretty much fought, that I would go and check on you and he would go back to the school with the rabbits."

"Oh, okay. We should head back then."

"Yeah."

Clementine picked up the bucket full of fish, before walking back on the road with Gabe.

Clementine and Gabe were still on the road. This was unusual, as usually it would take about 5-10 minutes.

"Gabe, are you sure we're going the right way?" Clementine queried worriedly.

Gabe scratched the back of his neck nervously. 

"... So you don't?"

Gabe shakes his head.

"What the hell, Gabe! You said you did, like, 20 times!"

"Look, I'm sure it will be fine!"

"Fine? Fine!? Look at the fucking sky, dumbass!"

Gabe obeyed as he widened his eyes when he saw the sun setting. They wee out for that long? After a long moment of silence, "Oh..."

Clementine rolled her eyes before stopping and placing down the heavy bucket. She turned away from Gabe to compose herself and rubbed her arm in pain. She turned back to Gabe who was wearing a guilty look on his face.
