October walked into the restaurant immediately she came down from the taxi. When she got in,she spotted Ebube sitting a few tables away, beside the wall.
She made her way to his table.

"You were supposed to see your aunt today."She said as she sat down."What's up?"

Ebube smiled faintly.

"What's wrong?"She noticed his dim mood.

"O.C." Ebube started and held her hand."Don't take what I'm about to tell you too hard."

October laughed.
"You're making me scared. As if you're breaking up with me."October stopped laughing when she noticed his expression.

"Mum refused it. She said it can't work out."

October drew her hand away from his.
"You're joking."

"Ever since your wedding failed,she hasn't been comfortable with us..."

"Ever since the wedding? That was five years ago."October was getting angry.

"Your status fell..."

"So that's what this is about? That's what your mother cares about?"

"I had to tell you so it won't be like I'm going behind your back when I start dating someone else."Ebube said.

October scoffed and faked a laugh.
"Can you listen to yourself? Four years Ebube,you wasted four years of my time just to break up with me now. My status? I never left you in secondary school when your dad had financial issues, Aaron protected you because of me,you begged me to do anything to stop my wedding with Damien when you heard about it. Now you're telling me..."October paused when she noticed her voice was getting raised. She calmed down. "So,who does your 'mother dearest' think is good for you?"

"I don't think you..."

"Who?"

Ebube sighed.
"Stephanie Ugboaja."He slowly answered. October faked a smile as tears welled up in her eyes.

"My Stephanie?" October asked. She nodded."You're the worst person I've met. I hope you two have a happy life and she doesn't contaminate you with HIV."October stood up but Ebube held her hand.

"October..."he called her. She drew her hand away and slapped him on the left side of his face,then on the right. She scoffed and walked away from him and out of the restaurant without even turning back. She didn't even care that it has started drizzling outside and everywhere was getting dark. The rain increased but she didn't mind; She just kept walking.

"He's lucky I wasn't there."Jenny said as she patted October's back. October was lying face down on the bed." See as the rain even beat you. What if you had caught a cold?"

"You should have poured him water." Olivia said from beside her.

"It's good as you hit him self. Hmm,Stephanie of all people."Jennifer shrugged "Once your best friend,now your worst enemy, best backstabber and best home wrecker. I don't blame you for what you told Ebube about the HIV thing. Who knows?After jumping from one man to...."

"It had to be her out of everybody. We were best friends then but all of a sudden, she left me when dad threw me out. First, she went after Damien, now Ebube. It's not his fault. Weakling.'My mother said,' 'My mother said'." She quoted Ebube. "He's a baby in everything. I can't even date him again."

"But he still likes you."Olivia said

"It's his business."October sat up."I'm supposed to get back to work."

"By this time of the night?" Jenny asked.

"You, what are you doing here?"October asked her. "Shouldn't you be at home 'by this time of the night'?"

"Mine's a different case. I can crash on your bed and have someone pick me up tomorrow."Jennifer shrugged."No stress."

"Work ends by ten" October said

"And you come all the way here?From Wuse to Dutse by ten pm?"Jennifer asked.

"Sometimes she comes by ten thirty, ten thirty two and so on."Olivia said.

"Is ten thirty two not ten thirty too?"October asked."Besides,it's just seven. I need to meet Chizoba."

"Who?"Jenny asked

"You two should drop by the hotel sometime so that when I call all these names,you will not start asking for who they are."October stood up and made her way for the bathroom. She wasn't looking down as she was walking and she bumped into Peppy's bed. She fell on the floor.

"Blindinus." Jennifer said and shook her head sideways

"Ooohm. Olivia please go and put on the gen. This candle on the floor is not helping matter."October moaned before her eye caught something under Peppy's bed. She pulled it out and sat on the floor."Ah-ah. This thing is still around?"She rose the headset

"Isn't that Peppy's?" Olivia asked

"No." October looked at the carvings on the headset she had made with razor blade." It's definitely mine. Remember the day I used razor blade to scratch it when I got really angry. I lost it after then."

"What do you mean you lost it? That has always been with Peppy. She will just come into the room, put it over her ears and block everybody out of her life. Maybe she found it after you lost it. Just leave it for her and get another one." Olivia said.

October gasped and jumped to her feet.
"Oh my gosh."

"What?"Jenny asked.

"I went to the repair shop for this before." October said.

"So?"Jennifer asked.

"They said it cannot be repaired at all."

"Hello? What are you trying to say? 'C grade' secondary school student here." Olivia said

"Peppy. She was never listening to music. She hears everything we say."

You guys make my day. Sorry for late updates though. I have to write in a book before I transfer it to Wattpad . I'm used to it.
