Chapter 48

The first thing October saw when she woke up was the white ceiling. She didn't want to get familiar with this faint and wake up stuff now. She could smell the drugs and chemicals in the air so she guessed where she was.

She blinked twice and tried to get up. She managed to sit up a bit and rested her back against the pillow. She was feeling okay.

She almost got screamed too when a voice yelled,
"She's awake."

That was when she noticed that she wasn't the only one in the room. She looked around and saw there were two other people in the large room. One was a nurse and the other a little girl who was staring at her.

"A- anong oras ito?" October asked the nurse.

"Ten a.m." The nurse answered.
"Ano ang pangalan mo?"
(What is your name?)

"October." She paused and looked around again. How did she end up here?
"Maari ka tumulong ako? Nagsasalita kang Ingles?"
(Can you help me? Do you speak English?)

The nurse smiled and gave her something in her hand. October looked at it. It was her own phone and the battery was full.

"Calm down. Maya here happened to be the one who helped your friends find you. She also found your phone. She usually plays around dangerous places even when I warn against it; Yesterday's area brought up something good though." She touched the little girl's head and she blushed.

"Thank you so much. About my friends...."

"Yes. I just called them. They should be here....." The nurse was saying when the door burst open. Sharmaine was the first one to run into the room, stopping immediately by the door. The others from the reunion coming in after her too, all except Damien and Jessica. Aaron stood beside her and the others stayed around. Maya and the nurse left the room.

"Thank God, you're alive." Majesty hugged October. "Don't give us such a scare again. How are you?"

"I'm great. Where's Damien?" October asked.

"He's outside talking with Jessica." Adaeze said.

'Ah' October thought and shook her head. She had even said what he was doing self. Her own amebo ehn...

"We just got here, but now I have to get going. I have something to get today." Benedict said and hugged her. He mussed her hair before he left the room.

"See, OC, just had it in mind that I'm the one that got scared the most. I almost cried. I even drove people around, so you better do and get well." Victor said.

"See this one, olodo." Alice said.

"You nko? Short but mighty." Victor said.

"Heyyy." Adaeze clapped her hand thrice. "Is it you he's talking to?" She asked Alice.

"Who added you now, imbecile?" Victor gave her the stink eye.
He ran out of the room knowing they were going to chase after him.

October just laughed and shook her head. Those four would always be the same troublemakers. No wait, they were three this time. Where was.....

"Don't mind them, October. They don't have common manners, arguing in your hospital room." Amaka said.

Bingo. There she was!

"Anyways, Temi, Deji and I are going out. What do you want us to bring back for you? Fried chicken?" Amaka asked.
October nodded. She walked out with the both guys. Ini and Kingsley were the next to leave after greeting her.

"I'm glad you didn't die." Stephanie looked around the room as she spoke. She didn't want to say it looking at October.
October just smiled as she too left.
