Fire On Fire

"Do I look LIKE I hike Shawn?" I asked with so much sarcasm.

Shawn was tying his sneaker as I stood by the door pouting like a child. I truly hated hiking, I did it a few times and it wasn't something I would do if a Choice. But Shawn wanted to explore and get in some exercise, because of course know matter where he goes he sticks to his regimen.

"Babe shut up. It'll be fun." He said pulling his hair back with his headband and I couldn't help but laugh. "You do know you make your head look bigger then it already is." I joked.

"You like it." He said slapping my ass and winking as I walked out of the house.  I laughed in a mocking way, rolling my eyes at him.

We got in the car and started the short ride to the hiking trail that was on the other side of the island.

Shawn had turned the stereo on and we listened to what played on his Spotify playlist, We were just humming along to whatever played that we knew.

"Do we really have to go?" I sulked dragging my finger along the glass window my eyes following my fingers traces.

I heard Shawn huff, "Yes Yvette." He said in a stern tone, making me raise my eyebrow at him in shock.

He shot me a quick glance and his face seemed to relax and he placed his hand over my thigh and he gave me a firm squeeze.

"We do this, No sex." I said swatting his hand away and bringing my legs together.

He let out the most cocky laugh that I couldn't help but find it sexy and also annoying.

When we got to the trail, Shawn parked the car in a small like lot for other cars.

He took his phone out and quickly took a shot of us together, I was covering my face with my hand and he was kissing my temple.

Then we started heading on the trail.

It was truly breathtaking, the view was something you could've sworn was out of a desktop screen saver. All the lush green palm trees and the small patch of colorful flowers along the way and the small birds that came here and there. The hike wasn't seeming that bad it was kind of a straight forward trail, nothing to strenuous but for a few times we had to go over some small rock paths.

Shawn seemed to be off into his own though so I didn't talk much just to allow him to have his time taking everything in his own way.

Once we got up a hill and past some bushes and on a much smaller trail Shawn stopped and I stopped beside him, looking over the beautiful waterfall across from us.

"Wow." Was all that came out my mouth, I couldn't take my eyes off the beautiful scenery.

Shawn came behind me wrapping his arms around my waist and locking his arm around me tightly pulling me to his damp white shirt.  I laid my head on his chest and closed my eyes taking in the beauty of the moment.

I felt his heart beating so quickly and I couldn't figure out why.

"What's going on?" I asked.

"I just want to enjoy this moment with you babe. I love you so much Yvette, and I swear this is the most terrifying thing in my life but its also the most happiest I may have been but also the most confusing. We keep going back and forth, I don't want that to be us." He said finally relaxing and resting his cheek on the side of head.

I knew what he meant but hearing him say it out loud like this was just more heartbreaking for me because I knew I was the huge Factor in this madness that I made us into. But that was a different me, the old insecure Yvette. Over the last few months I found myself and who I wanted to be and am comfortable being alone. I got good with being alone, working on myself and knowing my triggers and faults and fixing them for myself by myself.
