24 | I Don't Know

[ Princess Persassy Above :) And song ]

I bit my lip as they came again. As they marched into my cell, disgust written all over their face.

"I can't believe we still have to come here." Nico groaned, throwing his hands in the air. "I thought joining their side was enough to prove our loyalty. Now they're just being mean!"

I stared down at my bloody wrists, covered in marks.

A mark for each day and each word they scream at me.

"Ugh, let's just get this over with. So Perseus how are you?" Artemis asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Well considering the fact I am stuck in a room with you people, my day is just going wonderfully," I tell them sarcastically.

"Don't get sarcastic with me, mister. I am not in the mood to deal with your snide remarks." Artemis sneered, her eyes flickering towards me.

"Shall we go and do our usual routine?"

"Why not, it's not like I actually have a choice."

Something sharp is pressed into my neck, slowly getting deeper and deeper into my skin. I looked away from my wrists and up at the person currently stabbing their sword in my throat. Nico.

"I have been wondering Perseus, why didn't you go to the Romans after everyone abandoned your sorry ass? Was it because you were no longer strong enough to be in their legion?" Nico asked innocently.

"I have been wondering that too. Perhaps it's because he broke their little preator's heart? Or that he betrayed Rome?" Thalia questioned, tapping her chin.

I looked away from the duo as the memory seeped into my mind. And no matter how hard I tried to keep it out, it came in anyway.

It had been a week after I left, a few days before Thalia and Nico found me. I had been travelling across the country non-stop desperate for some safety. Since I was a son of Poseidon, monsters could sniff out my scent faster than an average demigod.

Whatever type of tracking device Lupa had placed into my mind, was still in tact. So I simply followed it all the way to my second best home, Camp Jupiter.

I stood in front of the door in the middle of the road, cars honking around me. A sense of dread had filled the bottom of my stomach that day, but I simply shook it off because I am an idiot.

I remember the shock I felt when I entered, when all the Romans faced their weapons at me. Even my friends back in the Fifth Cohort had their spears centered on me, anger in their eyes.

"We know of your evil deeds, Percy," Octavian had said, growling,"And we have orders to kill you."

It had took a minute for all that to register, that my fam- that the Olympians had said this. So I did something a little crazy. I stomped my foot on the ground, causing the ground to shake in my fury. The Tiber's water discreetly began to seep out, wrapping around each campers' legs.

"Yes, of course. I should have known the Olympians would tell you of my so called evil deeds." I managed a bitter laugh. "I guess saving lives is considered evil now."

I made a sweeping motion with my hand, and all the campers were pushed to the ground.

"I am sorry about that. Oh look at the time. Looks like I have to run." And with that I scrambled out of camp, heading back home.

It was at the moment when I realized how bad everything truly was.

And nothing was going to get any better.
