Me: Great. Now, throw it on the ground.

You: Done

Me: Now say you're sorry

You: Sorry

Me: Is it still broken?

You: Well no duh

Me: Okay. What about glue? Can you fix it with glue?

You: Yes. But-

Me: Are there going to be cracks?

You: Yeah

Me: Can you fill it with water, without the water going through the cracks or pieces of the cup breaking?

You: No

Me: Then, can it fill its purpose?

You: No

Me: What if we walk away? Will it still be broken?

You: Of course it will

Me: Will it ever be the way it was before?

You: No. What was the purpose of all this?

Me: The cup is a person, you have broken it, and there isn't a way to bring that person back to the way they were before.

So the question is, do you understand now?
