Dimmed Saint

I tried to fight
Inch by inch
Slowly
Keep on fighting
My shoulders began to quiver
Under the immense weight
The muscles tightened painfully
I could feel them pull and tear
Until I could go no further
Then it all came down
My body shuddering
I took a a deep breath...
And faded away

But I was already on the other side
Where darkness prevailed
My small spark
Just a faint glow
Against all the emptiness
At first the only difference was
The worsened pain
Increased by the paralyzing cold
Everything was still,
Dead
And then I began to warm
Gaining some feeling
It was heating up
And I stopped struggling
Gave in
To the pull
And I faded more
Soon the future seemed not so distant
A long time became thin, time was all gone
Concentrating felt like quicksand
So I gave up on that too

I was dragged down for the sake of art
All the light used up
Now I was a saint gone dim
