Chapter Forty-Eight

-Kylie's POV-

I sighed tiredly as I walked into the staff room, having my first break after the busy breakfast hour is over.

"Tired?" Ella asked as I sat down next to her, where she was massaging her legs. I nodded and she gave me a high five.

We started talking about Lawson and she's giving me some of their new updates when Jacob walked in with an excited smile.

"Kylie, your breaks over!" he sung and my eyes widened.

"How is that possible? I literally just came in and sat down a minute ago!"

He ignored my protests and pulled me up to my feet. "C'mon lazy bum, get back to work. You've got customers waiting for you at table 12!"

I groaned and walked out of the staff room, I turned around to close to door just as Jacob sat down where I was sitting seconds ago, lifting Ella's legs onto his own and started massaging her legs for her.

I scoffed at Jacob's stupid excuse about my break already over but went back to work nevertheless, letting them have their personal space.

As I was walking towards table 12 with their drinks, I gasped and sped walk back into the kitchen area where Victoria was busying making orders for other customers with Jacques.

"Hey Victoria, can you help me serve table 12?!" I asked in panic.

She shook her head and gave me a disapproving look. I pouted and she just laughed me off.

I slowly and unwillingly walked back towards the 4 guys sitting at the table.

Brad was the first person who noticed me and he waved at me, Tristan and James did the same but Connor just sat there looking at me.

"Hey." I smiled. The three older boys greeted me back as the youngest band member continued to stare at me with a sad smile.

I served their drinks and was about to walk away when James pulled my arm, making me turn around to look at them again. "There's something we need to tell you. Sit and we'll explain." he demanded politely, not giving me a choice.

"Um, I have to get back to work." I explained, trying to pull my arm away but his grip tightened.

"Just a few minutes, please?" Tristan asked again, I sighed and nodded.

No one spoke a word for the first minute or two. I observed them as they looked at each other, and then diverted their eyes towards the quiet boy in front of me. He opened his mouth, and then closed it again. Connor repeated this a few times but never made a sound.

I stood up and began to walk away again, had enough of the awkward situation but someone ran after me and grabbed my hand.

It was Connor, his face flushed.

"What is it?" I snapped, annoyed.

"You have to listen to what I have to say... Please." he begged, his eyes watering up. "I didn't cheat on you, I swear. It was Diana. She forced herself on me because she knew Nicole was behind me, watching. And then... Well, you know the rest."

He stared at me as his words repeated in my mind over and over and over again.

Is he lying?

Is he telling the truth?

"Please believe me." Connor continued, seeing the uncertainty on my face. "You know I love you and I would never do anything to hurt you. I know how it feels to be cheated on, because I've been there before. I couldn't forgive myself for letting that night's mistake happen, and I would never forgive myself if I don't tell you the truth and just letting you go like this."

Even though his eyes are bloodshot with dark circles under, his beautiful sky blue eyes never fails to capture my attention; the sadness, regret, guilt and anger, I can see it all from his eyes. I can see the stubble growing on his face, making him look older, more tired.

I nodded with a small smile on my face, "I believe you, Con."

Seeing the smile replacing his frown on his face brightened my day.

"Really?" he croaked, making me giggle and him blushing, "I mean, you really do?"

"Yes, Connor, I believe you."
