-James' POV-
I stumbled into the bar where Kylie and the boys were, almost tripping over my own feet.
I looked around and spotted Jacob walking towards me. I waved my hands at him excitingly and pulled him into a hug when he was at a reachable distance.
"Hey James, you okay?" Jacob asked, holding me up and to prevent me from falling down.
"M' fine!" I slurred, laughing slightly.
"How come you're so drunk when you've just arrived a minute ago?" Victoria and Tris came over, laughing at my probably very stupid behaviour.
"I at. Another bar. Near by." I couldn't even form a proper sentence, I don't think I've drank that much just now... Only a shot or two?
"I thought you went to a family gathering or something?" Ella, who was standing beside Victoria, asked.
"Come on, let's sit down and get you some water so you could sober up." Tris and Jacob led me to a table where they were sitting. There was another girl who I've never seen sitting there, looking bored.
"What's up?" Brad and the rest of the group came back with drinks in their hands, sitting down with us. I stared at the unknown girl's face as her eyes lightened up when Kylie sat down next to her, handing her drink to her.
"How was your family gathering, James?" Kylie asked.
"Um, it was, fine." I mumbled.
The truth is, I wasn't at any family gathering just now, I just couldn't face Kylie and Connor and all the other couples who look so happy together. I am very happy for my best friends, knowing they're in love and stuff, but I'll admit that I am also very jealous and lonely.
I sipped on the water the boys got me, sobering up. They were all having fun, and my focus was only on Kylie. Connor caught my stare and glared at me, warning me.
This wasn't the first time he caught me. He and the boys have caught me numerous times, but never said anything about it; but I think they're clever enough to know what's going on in my mind, and about...
My true feelings towards Kylie.
"Kylie, can I talk to you privately?" I blurted out before I could stop myself. The boys' heads immediately turned to my direction, sending me warning looks.
Yep, they definitely know what I'm thinking about.
"Sure, let's go outside where it's quieter." Kylie said and stood up, only to be pulled down by Connor.
"Don't go, please." Connor whispered.
"What's wrong?" she asked, clearly confused about the whole situation.
"Just, don't go. I beg you." Connor growled, annoyance showing on his face as his jaw tightened.
"It'll just be a short talk, I'll be back before you know, don't worry." Kylie placed a soft kiss on the tip of his nose and both of us walked out of the club through the backdoor. Before I closed the door, I looked back and they were all looking at us worriedly. The girls clearly have no idea what's going on, they're really oblivion sometimes.
"What's the matter, McVey?" she asked with concern. I didn't answer her, only took her hands and kissed her knuckles. She was shocked but didn't pull away.
By now, my mind isn't controlling me anymore. My heart and my feelings were in control.
"Do you know why am I'm the only one in the group who doesn't have a girlfriend?" I asked, and she shook her head.
"Because I've got my eyes set on this one girl, who I know doesn't like me the way I like her."
