13. Gastina - We're in this together

-----2 months after the last Gastina chapter (8 years and 9 months after the end of season 3)-----

Nina was working as a journalist since she graduated at university. But that day she wasn't feeling well. She had a throbbing headache and from time to time a sudden nausea took control over her body.

She was trying really hard to write the article about healthy diet, but she couldn't concentrate on anything, because she was feeling really nauseous. Her boss noticed Nina staring at the screen of her computer for ten minutes straight.

Suddenly, Nina heard the voice of her boss behind her. "Mrs. Perida, are you okay?" Nina jumped up from her seat and regretted it immediately, because she felt even dizzier than before. Nina stuttered. "Yes, of course. I'm...I'm just..." 

She couldn't finish her sentence, because her knees seemed so weak at the moment that she had to support herself with her working table. But her boss noticed it. He frowned and stated. "I think that you should go home earlier today. You look like you're sick or nauseous or something."

Nina blushed and admitted. "Honestly, principal, I really am feeling sick and nauseous." Her boss nodded and asked. "Do you want to go home, then?" Nina reassured him. "Yes, please. That would be helpful. I promise that I'll bring tomorrow the article and that it will be finished." Her boss nodded and said. "Okay. So I hope you'll be feeling better tomorrow."

Nina was glad that she could go home earlier. She went that day to work with Gastón by their car, which meant that Gastón took the car to work and she had to walk home. But Nina wasn't sure that she could walk all the way home, plus she remembered that Gastón would like to know what has happened to her, so she had dialed his number and waited for his response. But Gastón was very busy at work, so he couldn't answer the phone. Nina left him a message.

"Hi, Gastón. I'm not feeling well, so my boss suggested that I should go home earlier and now I'm taking the bus home. Don't worry, it's just the stupid morning sickness. I'll wait for you at home. I love you."

When Nina finally got to their house, her knees were trembling and she stumbled on the staircase that led to their front door. Her dizziness was even worse than before, so Nina just lied down herself on the couch in the living room, because she felt too weak to go to the bedroom.

Nina was taking deep breaths, but nothing seemed to work. Suddenly, she started feeling sad. She started crying, because she missed Gastón so much. She was very emotional lately. Gastón knew about it, so when he checked his phone and found there a message that Nina had left him an hour ago, he was at the edge of panicking. He was really worried about his ten weeks pregnant wife.

He called her, but she didn't respond. Gastón guessed that she was feeling too sick to actually pick up the phone and that freaked him out even more. He quickly excused himself from work and headed home.

Gastón was driving very fast, but he couldn't care less. All he was thinking about was Nina. He had parked the car in front of their house and sprinted to the door. When he got to the house, he called softly and worriedly. "Nina? Where are you, baby?"

Then he heard Nina's voice that sounded very weak. "I'm in the living room." He quickly went there.

Gastón gasped when he saw Nina lying on the couch with closed eyes. He rushed over to her. "Nina, what's wrong?" Nina opened her eyes and whimpered. "I've got a terrible headache, I feel dizzy and I guess that I can throw up in any second. Gastón, you shouldn't have came home. I'm okay."
