46. Jico - Birthday surprise

Author's Note: Hi, everybody! Welcome to a brand new chapter about Jim, Nico and their kids. Next week you can look forward to a new Yamiro chapter. I wish you all merry Christmas and today's chapter is a present for you from me, since the last chapter I wrote in a hurry and I'm aware that it wasn't as good as usually. Enjoy it :)

-----18 years after the end of season 3-----

Jim was cleaning up their house when her phone rang. She glanced over at her mobile phone and smiled excitedly when she saw that Nico was calling her for videochat. 

He was away on the big Roller Band tour around Europe and it's been six weeks already since he left. She missed him so much, but that was nothing in comparism to how much Nico missed his two children. And the kids were also very sad and every day asked Jim, when the tour is going to be over and their dad will come back home.

Jim called at her and Nico's nine year old daughter Olivia and five year old Tobías. "Oli, Tobí, come here, your dad is calling!"

Within a second both of their children ran to the room, shouting happily. Jim answered the phone call and smiled to the camera at Nico. She said. "Hi, Nico. How is the tour going?"

He dedicated them one of his heartwarming smiles while saying. "Hello, my favourites! I'm fine. What about you? Oli, how was your day at school? And what about you, Tobí, what's new? And you love, how are you doing?" His voice was full of concern and also pain of not being able to embrace them all to a hug because of the distance.

The red-haired girl with Nico's ocean greenish blue eyes squealed. "Daddy! I'm okay, but I miss you so much. Come home, please." She begged him and from her voice was evident that she was seriously missing her dad. She was very fixed on Nico and Nico's heart was breaking into million pieces when his beloved daughter was sad.

He sighed, fighting with tears. Then he said soothingly. "I miss you all so much too, princess, you know that. But I can't come home, not right now. We're in Spain and we'll be touring for another three weeks. I will bring you lots of presents, you'll see. We'll see each other very soon."

Their little light brown-haired boy with Jim's dark brown eyes poited out reproachfully. "You said this yesterday and the day before as well, but it's not true. I want you to be at home, I want to play with you and learn how to play the guitar!" At the end he started crying.

Jim hugged him tightly and said. "Don't be like that to your daddy, he doesn't deserve this behaviour. He has to work and he'll come soon back home and then you can play with him as much as you want. We have to enjoy his company when he's talking to us via phone calls."

The conversation turned completely on its head. Nico was feeeling guilty. Then, a horrible thought crossed Olivia's head. "Daddy, will you come home?"

He frowned. "Of course that I'll come home, Via, why shouldn't I?" He asked confusedly. She explained with fear in her eyes. "My friend told me that her dad went away for work and didn't come back."

Nico was left speechless for a little while. Then he managed to say. "This is not our case, Oli. He was a very bad dad if he left them alone. I will come back home because I miss you. I love you both and I also love your mom very much. I would never do that." He promised.

The children lit up. They chatted for another twenty minutes until the kids got bored and left the room. As soon as they disappeared, Nico stated, worried.

"This is over the top, Jim. Why do they think that I won't return?" Jim shook her head, feeling torn. "I don't know, Nico. They miss you a lot, both of them were crying yesterday because they wanted to have you by their side. It's difficult when you're not here." She sighed.
