40. Pelfi - Unconditionally

-----Few minutes later, the same day as the previous Pelfi chapter (9 years and 8 months after the end of season 3)-----

Delfi was whimpering in pain, because her belly was attacked over and over again with even more powerful contractions. Pedro hurried with her to the maternity hospital as fast as he could.

With every visible or audible sign of Delfi's pain Pedro felt like the worst person ever. He would do anything to help her or ease the pain she was feeling, but sadly, there wasn't much he could do, besides holding her hand and be her anchor.

He tried to shush her, encourage her and take her mind off the pain, so he whispered. "I'm really happy that we can welcome to the world our children. For a while I thought we won't be able to feel the best feeling - to become parents of our own kids. So we're incredibly lucky and Delfi, I'm really proud of you of how you're doing so far.

I have to admit that I feel terrified, not to mention that you have to be even more nervous than me, but I want you to know that I will always be there, by your side to help you and take care of you. I love you Delfi and that's never going to change." He said tenderly and kissed her hand.

Delfi smiled. "Thank you, Pedro. Without you I wouldn't be half as strong as I am now and it's thanks to you. I love you too and I've been waiting for this moment for a long time, so I'm not going to give up until we have the twins in our arms."

Pedro carressed her cheek. "I know you won't. I really admire you, darling." Delfi laughed nervously. "Wait with it. I'm not so sure about my power." Pedro smiled down at her. "I don't have any single doubt about your power." Delfi smiled, but winced in pain immediately.

Her belly was attacked again with the contractions, so powerful that Delfi had to hold onto the wheelchair. In that moment they finally got to the maternity department where the doctor was waiting for them.

Because Delfi's pregnancy was risky since she went to the artificial insemination, the doctor had to do a lot of examinations to see if she was safe and if it was safe for the twins to be born the natural way and two weeks before the due date.

Delfi was really anxious. She asked worriedly, at the edge of panicking. "Doctor, please tell me, I need to know. Are my babies alright?" Pedro took her hand, then squeezed it. The doctor was still, looking into the papers and didn't say a thing.

Pedro was getting frustrated, so after few more minutes of waiting he bursted out. "Doctor! Did you hear my wife? Are our twins okay? It's a simple question: yes or no." His voice shuddered when he imagined their kids could possibly be in danger.

The doctor finally looked up. "Don't worry, Mr. and mrs. Arias. It seems that your twins are alright, so we should move to the birthing room to welcome them to this world."

Both Delfi and Pedro sighed in relief that their prayed children were alright. Pedro had helped Delfi to stand up and led her to the birthing room.

When Delfi started pushing, she felt terrible and after the first push she exclaimed in pain. "If I have to go through this twice, I'm sure I'll be exhausted for the rest of my life!"

Pedro carressed her forehead and shushed her. "Shhh, Delfi, it's alright. You're doing great and I know you can make it. Come on, concentrate only on the important thigs, which is only to get the twins out of you. Okay?" He asked with an encouraging smile.

Delfi's belly crossed in that moment another wave of contractions. She screamed. "This is the worst time of my life!" Her scream came out more like a whimper.
