38. Jico - Dream came true

-----9 years and 1 month after the end of season 3-----

Jim averted her eyes from the book she was reading and glanced over at Nico, who was strumming some random melody with his guitar and smiled.

She carressed her big 9th month pregnant belly and let her mind imagine how is it going to feel like when she'll be holding their little princess in her arms.

Jim was looking at Nico intently with so much tenderness in her eyes that after a little while he looked up and met with her loving gaze. He smiled immediately and put the guitar away and hugged his wife instead.

He asked. "Why are you looking at me like this? Did something happen?" A soft smile appeared on his lips, when Jim answered, lost in dreams.

"I was just wondering how is our Olivia going to look like. If she has your eyes...I would give everything to know." Nico's pleasant laugh filled the room.

"Darling, why do you care so much about it? I'm sure that she is beautiful and her eye colour won't change it." He stroked her shoulders to relieve Jim from the pain.

She looked up to him and said. "I care about it because I really want her to inherit your eyes. They're beautiful." She blushed.

Nico smiled and said. "That's really sweet of you, Jim, but none of us can influence this. You yourself have nicer eyes than me."

Jim then said out loud what she was thinking about the whole day. "Nico, what do you think? The due date is in five days, Oli can be born in any moment."

Nico placed a soft kiss on her chin and smiled. "I'm very excited of welcoming our little daughter to the world. But also, I'm not sure how I will handle the thought of you giving birth, suffering and me only being able to watch it." He confessed.

Jim squeezed his hand. "Nico, don't worry, I'm sure that I'll be fine. Just be there with me, that will surely help me the most."

Nico smiled and leaned down. He coped the little distance between them and connected his lips to Jim's passionately.

Jim felt an urgent desire to be close to her husband, so she decided to deepen the kiss. Their lips were connecting and unlinking again and again with so much passion as nine months before when they were able to touch each other without scruples.

Now they were limited by Jim's big baby bump, hormones and the fact that they didn't want to hurt their baby.

After few more minutes of passionate making out, Nico broke the kiss breathlessly.

"Jim, we have to stop. You could give birth sooner if we continue like this. I'm sorry, darling. You have no idea how much I want to carry on, but we can't. I promise that when you're feeling better and our daughter is born, we will continue right where we left it." 

He said, but Jim knew that he really had to control himself as much as she did. 

Jim had looked around and realized that somehow she ended up on Nico's lap. She blushed, but before she could say anything, she let out "Ouch!"

Nico alarmed himself quickly. "What happened?" Jim was taking deep breaths when another sharp pain clenched her tummy.

"Jim! Jim, what's wrong?" Nico exclaimed, completely horrified. Jim gasped. "Nico, oh! I think I'm having contractions!" She exclaimed with her eyes wide open.
