Lilah
"You're gonna be late for work!" Quinn said when she rushed into my apartment. I groan loudly as she jumped on my bed to wake me up. "I'm awake!" I shout to make her stop jumping. I heard her laugh as she let herself fall beside me.
"Are you excited about your first day at work?" Quinn asked when I turn over to look at her. I shrug my shoulders as I yawned. It was too early, but if I wanted to keep this job I had to get out of bed and get ready. I just graduated from school and got a job instantly. I was an assistant for Taylor Enterprises. It was a job I never thought I'd get, but thanks to Quinn I got a job interview. She has been my best friends after... after Ethan and Gray left but still, she couldn't replace them.
"Get out of my apartment! I need to get ready." I said as I stumbled out of bed. I rubbed in my eyes and walked over to my kitchen to grab some coffee. To my surprise, I saw a plate with sandwiches on my kitchen counter. "Q, did you make me breakfast?" I shout to my room. Quinn stumbled out of my room and nodded heavily.
"I figured you wanted something to eat." She said and I walked over to her immediately. I pulled her into a hug and held her tightly. "You're the best..." I murmured in her ear before I let go of the hug. "I know!" Quinn replied in excitement before she walked over to my door. "Text me when you're ready, I will give you a ride," Quinn said.
"I can take a cab!" I shout before she closed the door. "No way!" I heard when she fully shut the door. I smirked as I shook my head, Quinn was like a guardian angel.
I quickly ate breakfast as I looked through my Instagram feed, it's something I do every morning to see if I missed something. To my surprise, I saw a photo of Ethan in my feed. I froze immediately and let my phone fall on my kitchen counter. I haven't seen or talked to them in two years. I lock my phone and tried to think of something else. E and Gray had moved on, and I needed to do the same. Ever since they left I felt a part of me was missing, even though I tried to live my life to the fullest, I never managed to achieve my goals. Because all my goals were still including those stupid twins.
An hour later
"Lilah? Are you ready?" I heard Quinn ask when I just walked out of my bathroom as I plugged an earring in. "Do I look good?" I asked Quinn as I was nervous about my first day as an assistant.
Quinn gasped for air, as she saw me in my outfit. I was wearing a tight skirt that got to my knees, and a loose shirt. I had curled my hair and put it into a ponytail. "Girl... you look breathtaking!" Quinn said in excitement and I had to laugh because of her.
"Let's go," I said to her as I grab my purse. We walked out of my apartment and I made sure the door was locked. As we walked down the stairs you could hear my heels tick on the ground.
As we sat in the car, and Quinn was driving I scrolled through my phone again. "Are you ok? You seem caught up." Quinn said as she looked through her sunglasses at me. I bit my lip as I put my phone away. "I saw Ethan... on Instagram," I told Quinn and she hit her break immediately. "Quinn!" I shout in shock as I readjusted myself in the car seat.
"Have you spoke to them lately?" Quinn asked as she started driving again. I guess she was as shocked as I was. I let out a deep sigh as I shook my head. "No... They never even called me..." I said in disappointment as I thought back about the day they left me. It was a sunny day, back in New Jersey. The moment I graduated school I moved to New York with Quinn to get a real job and escape from that shitty town. It had too many bad memories for me.
"We're here," Quinn said as she parked her car in front of the big building. I grabbed my purse and said my goodbyes to Quinn as I got out of the car. "Call me when you need me! I'll be here for lunch later!" Quinn said when I stood in front of the building. "Bye Quinn!" I yelled before I stumbled into the big building.
"Good morning, Mrs. Scott." The assistant behind the large desk greeted me. "Good morning, Tricia." I smiled back at her as I walked over to the elevators. I waited patiently for the elevator to ring before I could get in. I pushed the button to the 15th floor as other people were joining me in the elevator.
As soon as I reached the 15th floor I grab a coffee for me and Mr. Taylor. He always liked it when his coffee was ready with two sugars. This man does not know what coffee with milk tastes like. As soon as the coffees were ready I out mine on my desk and knock on Mr. Taylor's office door.
"Come in." I heard him murmur and I slowly opened up his door. "Here is your coffee, sir," I said as I walked over to his desk and put the cup of coffee there. Mr. Taylor looked up from his stack of papers to look me in the eyes. "Mrs. Scott! I send you some emails that you have to answer for me. Just tell them I'm not interested." Mr. Taylor said and I slowly nodded at him. I don't even get a good morning wish? Rude. I turn my heels and slowly walk back towards the door.
"Oh and Mrs. Scott?" He asked and I slowly turned around to face him. "Yes, sir?" I asked and I saw he smiled a bit at me. "You look nice today." He said and I gave him a thankful nod. I walked out of his office and made myself comfortable behind my desk.
A few hours later I responded to all the emails that Mr. Taylor had sent me and it was finally time for lunch. As I grab my purse and made sure my desk looked organized I stumble towards the elevators. I heard my phone beep and thought it was Quinn telling me she's here.
Unknown: Lilah, honey. I know this might catch you off guard but I wanted to invite you to L.A. Sean has passed away, and I'm sure he wants you at his funeral... lot of love, Lisa.
I froze immediately again as I read the text again. Sean passed away?... He was like a dad to me, he always got my back and I could always come to him when I needed something before the twins moved away.
