"Delilah, I need the paperwork ready in an hour. Patricia, when my brother comes, tell him to wait. I have an important meeting in a few so make sure all my calls get directed to the both of you," Kyle said as he leaned against his desk. Patricia and I were called in because today was a busy day for Kyle. It has been two days since I got back and it felt good to be in my own town. I'm finally back home.
"Will do," Patricia said as she left Kyle's office instantly. On these types of days Kyle could be dominant because he wanted everything to go well. Not well, but perfect. I watched Patricia leave as I walked closer to Kyle.
"How about lunch after the meeting? I could book a table for two at our favourite restaurant?" I asked Kyle and I saw him relax right away. I gave him a small smile as I laid a hand on his shoulder.
"Sounds good, could you do something else for me too?" Kyle asked as he grabbed my hand off his shoulder and held it tightly with his own hand.
"Anything," I said.
"Go buy yourself a beautiful dress and make sure my brother gets a nice suit. We have a sort of family reunion," Kyle said. I frowned immediately as a million questions came up in my head.
"First of all, why do I hear this just now? Second of all, family reunion? I thought you and your brother were the only one left from the family," I asked and I saw Kyle running a hand through his hair as he needed to give me the answers I needed.
"Finn and I were adopted at a young age. Finn had a good bond with our so called parents, but I never did. That's why I never told you about them, because they weren't a family to me. But once a year we still go to the reunion because if I won't go they will be haunting me," Kyle explained to me and joked about it. I saw he became kind of nervous because the last time he told me about a family I snapped at him and abandoned him.
"Hey, it's ok. I will make sure your brother will look professional and I will come with you," I said as I laid a hand on his cheek. "I shouldn't have treated you so bad after you told me about your brother, it won't happen again," I said and pulled him into a tight hug.
"Now go, and have fun with my brother because I never have," Kyle joked again as he let go of me. I laughed at him as I walked out of his office and made my way to the lobby. Why did Kyle's office have to be on the 15th floor? It takes at least five minutes to go to the lobby.
"Delilah! Finally I meet you!" I heard Finn say and even though I knew he was the twin brother of Kyle I couldn't help and be surprised of how similar they looked.
"Hey, Finn! Come on, we gotta buy a suit for you for the reunion," I said as I pulled him into a hug. He smiled at me brightly. He looked so similar to Kyle but yet he was so different. Kyle always wore a suit and when he wasn't he was hungover. Finn on the other hand looked more loose. He wore a jeans but still wore a blouse. He seemed like a serious guy but less then Kyle.
"I guess you still get to use Kyle's card?" Finn asked with a smirk as we walked out of the building. I nodded as I laughed. I saw a few camera flashes but I tried to ignore them. "How's it to be the most known secretary in whole America?" Finn asked and I had to think hard of this question.
"It is... suffocating but also fun," I said and once again I laughed about it. Sometimes I really wished all these people with their camera's just got away but sadly they never did. But I also got many people who send me sweet messages everyday on Instagram, while they don't even know me for real. I felt my phone vibrate and as I looked at it I saw Ethan calling me again. "Sorry, Finn. I need to take this," I said and saw we were already in front of the store for his suit and a dress for me.
"Delilah, hey..." I heard Ethan say through the phone as he realized I accepted his call. I bit my lip as I didn't know what to say to him, after all I left him behind for something his brother did.
"Ethan..." I breathed out eventually as I closed my eyes and tried to hold back my tears.
"Please, come back... I miss you and you were the only positive vibe around this house. Louis still hasn't left because he hopes you're coming back too," Ethan said and I held in my breath. How could I tell him no?
"Fly over with Louis. I will pay your tickets. Pack your bags now and you'll be in time," I said as I looked at the watch around my wrist. "Let me know when you're in the plane. I will make sure Kyle, Finn and I will be ready to pick you up," I said and hung up. I saw Finn looking at me with a billion questions written on his face. "Don't ask..." I whispered to him as I wanted to forget about this immediately. Finn and I walked into the store.
"Did Kyle say what kind of suit I needed?" Finn asked as I walker over to the dresses. I looked up to him as I shook my head.
"He just told me to keep an eye on you and what you're buying. So, I will grant you permission and if not you need another suit," I said and laughed about it in the end. Finn laughed too as he walked towards the suits. My eyes fell on a bright red dress with a cut on the side.
A few hours later
"Kyle, please! Ethan did nothing wrong and Louis promised to be a better man! They will land in an hour and I will make sure they behave!" I yelled at Kyle. He was being overprotective by telling me no about Ethan and Louis coming here.
"Delilah! This is a family reunion!" Kyle yelled back at me as he ran a hand through his hair out of frustration.
"Exactly! Louis is my brother who deserved a second chance! Ethan is like a brother to me! You should know that!" I yelled back at him as I balled my hands. I felt like punching something but I tried with every bit in my body not to. Kyle let out a deep sigh as he looked out of his window to the view over New York.
"Fine, but no new suits for them. If something happens, even as small as a ink dot they have to leave," Kyle said before he slowly turned around to face me. I rolled my eyes at him as I looked the other way. "Louis needs to hide his tattoos and make sure they look presentable," Kyle said as he walked over to his desk.
"Says the guy who made me buy his brother a good suit so he didn't disappoint the family," I said as I was furious is Kyle. I stormed out of his office and let myself fall on my chair behind my desk. "Idiot," I hissed to myself as I was talking about Kyle. I would have understood his behaviour if it was Grayson who would come here but that's not the case. I heard Kyle's office door open but I didn't bother looking that way. I looked at the computer in front of me as I tried my best to work.
"Here," I heard Kyle say as keys fell on my desk. "Take my Tesla, drive them home and let them pick a suit of mine. I will be home at three so make sure they're ready when I get there," Kyle said in a calming voice. I looked at the keys and slowly picked them up before I looked at Kyle. "I trust you when it comes to making people look presentable," Kyle said before he went back into his office. "Oh, and go now. I will send your work to Patricia," Kyle said before he closed his door. A small smile formed on my face as I grabbed my bag and walked towards the elevator.
Let's do this and have a good time.
