Delilah

As usual there was paparazzi waiting on us at the house of Kyle's foster parents. With a sigh I got out of the car and prepared myself for all the camera flashes. Now Ethan is with us the paparazzi will have lots of questions why he's here and without Grayson. As I was walking towards the front door on the red carpet my heels made a clicking sound by each step I made. It made me smile a bit knowing it would work on Kyle's nerves. Kyle walked beside me and curled up his arm so I could pass my arm through it, like a keychain. With huge smiles on our faces we walked inside the house. I guess Kyle felt a bit better while I was by his side, he could distract himself with me. I looked behind me to check on Louis, Ethan and Finn. I saw Ethan tried to ignore the paparazzi as much as I did.

"It will get easier," Kyle whispered in my ear as we stood in the hallway of the house. Once again this was more like a mansion then a house. I smiled at Kyle as I slowly nodded. "I forgot to mention it was a masquerade ball," Kyle said and my eyes widened immediately. How could he forget such a big detail? Before I could say anything to Kyle he already had put a mask in my hands. It was a beautiful red mask with silver outlines. I but my bottom lip as Kyle grabbed it out of my hands again and put it on my head. He knotted it tightly while he made sure the mask had placed well.

"Always full of surprises, huh?" I heard Ethan say as he had a mask on as well. His eyes were focused on Kyle and I knew there was something off. I frowned as I watched Kyle closely. He just shrugged his shoulders as he focused on the people slow dancing in the main room. I decided to let go of this topic and enjoy the night, if that was possible. Kyle started walking again and dragged me with him since our arms were still intertwined.

"Kyle and Finn, my boys!" I heard a woman say as she walked up to us. I figured this was their foster mom as she hugged Kyle and Finn tightly. "And who may this beautiful woman be?" Their mom said as she saw me with my arm intertwined with Kyle's arm.

"This is Delilah, my assistant and best friend, mother," Kyle said as he rested his eyes on me. I smiled brightly at him as I felt my cheeks flush. When I noticed Kyle and I were staring at each other I blinked a few times and looked at their mom.

"Nice to meet you, Mrs," I said as I smiled brightly at her. I held my hand up in front of her and she quickly answered by shaking my hand with hers. I could see where Kyle got the I-need-to-be-rich-vibe got from. His mom wore a diamond necklace and there were big pearls disguised as earrings in her ear. Her hair was perfectly done and with her red lipstick she seemed royal.

"Please, call me Katherine," She said as she gave me an acted smile. I fake smiled back at her as I knew she was already judging me, I bet she heard a lot of things about me. "I should get going and take care of the guests," Katherine said as she walked away. I rolled my eyes when she was out of sight.

"She can be... Cold-hearted," Kyle whispered in my ear and I chuckled about it as I nodded. She definitely seemed cold-hearted as her eyes were scanning every bit of my body to see if there was anything expensive covering me.

"Can I steal her for a bit?" Louis asked Kyle and Kyle had a hard time letting go of my arm. As I grabbed Louis hand I gave Kyle a look to them him it was alright. Louis almost dragged me to the dance floor as his arms folded around my back and I put my arms around his neck as we swirled to the slow music. "Is this what you want?" Louis asked real soft so no one else could hear him. I looked at him as I slowly nodded.

"At first I was ok with Grayson's... situation. But knowing he didn't care he left us behind for a week and left us in a big worry just made me realize how narcissistic he became," I explained to Louis. I saw his eyes turned sad and my face dropped immediately. "As long as you don't turn like him, I won't leave you, Louis," I said as I knew he was worried I would leave him behind like I did to Grayson.

"I've done bad stuff too, Delilah. I'm not a saint either," Louis said and I nodded immediately. That may be a problem to me, knowing he was talking about abuse or even worse.

"But you care about me, don't you?" I asked Louis as I watched him deeply in his eyes to search for an answer.

"Of course I do..." He whispered as his voice cracked. I immediately pulled him closer and laid my head on his shoulder.

"Then there's nothing to worry about..." I whispered to him as I closed my eyes. I felt he rested his head on mine as we kept on swirling to the slow music. Moments like this made me realize who my real friends were and who I could consider a family. I heard a loud cough beside us and when I opened up my eyes I saw Ethan standing beside us with glasses of wine.

"I figured we were thirsty," Ethan said embarrassed for interrupting me and Louis. I smiled brightly at him as I let go of Louis and took a glass of wine. We walked off the dance floor and I saw Kyle with Finn at his foster parents. Tonight was what we needed.
