Delilah
It was pitch black, all I could see was what's right in front of me. I was somewhere in the woods, I'm guessing the forest that's beside New York. I don't know how I got here. I remember we got attacked in our own home, I was shooting my arrows and following some from the bad guys. I just followed them in here but now they seem nowhere to be found. It was already night time and I couldn't find my way back to New York. Everything looked the same and I was so vulnerable for an attack. I was on my own and I only had four arrows left and my gun with a dozen bullets in it. My feet were hurting because I've been walking for hours. Nothing happened in the mean time, I just tried to find my way back the whole time for the past few hours. I heard something behind me and as I turned around I saw no one. As I turned back to walk again I felt a hand pushed on my mouth and an arm around me. I tried to scream but I was silenced by the hand.
"Ssh," The person whispered in my ear as he slowly dragged me behind a tree. "You're safe, I promise," The person said as he slowly removed his hand from my mouth. I immediately turned around as I grabbed an arrow and put it in my bow to point it at him. I saw the person slowly removing his mask and from his voice I knew it was a man. "I'm Trevor," He said but I didn't flinch. I just stood there, pointing my arrow at him, ready to fire when he tried something.
"What do you want from me?" I asked him silently so no one else could hear me. I hadn't seen his face around so I knew he was one of the bad guys.
"I know you won't believe me but I never wanted to be a part of this," Trevor said and I frowned at him. "My father was a part of this when he was a teenager, so I belonged in here. I never wanted to be one of the bad guys, I promise," Trevor said but I didn't trust him. For all I know this could be a trap.
"Give me one good reason to believe you," I said to him. I still didn't move my arrow that was facing his heart. If he tried to do something he would be dead right away.
"I will give you my weapons, anything. Just please, get me out of here," Trevor said and I saw something turn in his eyes. I frowned for a bit before I put my bow and arrow down. I put my arrow back in it's case and held up my hand to Trevor so he could give me his weapons.
"I still don't trust you, you have to earn it," I said and he immediately nodded at me. He handed over his guns, which were three. I put one in the back of my pants, one in my shoe and the other one in my other shoe.
"I'm already thankful for this opportunity," Trevor said as he smiled at me softly. Something inside of me trusted him and I was better off with someone by my side instead of all alone. I looked at him and remembered something I saw in my childhood. A blood oath...
"A good start to earn my trust is to do a blood oath," I said to Trevor as I grabbed an arrow and cut a line in the palm of my hand. I gave the arrow to Trevor and he did the same as me. I already could see he didn't hesitate a minute to do this, which was good.
"How does it work?" Trevor asked as he balled his hands because of all the blood. He gave the arrow back and I wiped it clean on my pants. Once I put the arrow back in it's case I looked at him again.
"We hold hands and all you have to do is repeat after me," I said to him and he slowly nodded at me. I opened up my hand and as Trevor did as well we grabbed each other's hands. I closed my eyes for a bit because the cut stung a little. "Entreat me not to break thee, whither thou goest, my words will go. When I lie, I will die. Thy God shall be my God," I spoke out and I felt a chill roam through my body. Trevor repeated after me and when he was finished we let go of our hands.
"Does that make your stress go away?" Trevor asked me carefully. As I cleaned up my hand I slowly nodded at him. I ripped a piece of my shirt off and bandaged his hand. I bandaged my hand as well and gave his guns back.
"This oath is more powerful than our own lives. Even if you'd pull something on me, karma is on it's way," I said and slowly started walking through the woods. I heard Trevor following me.
"I don't need these," Trevor said as he gave his guns back to me. I frowned at him a bit because I figured he needed them to defend himself. "I have my bow and arrow hidden around that tree over there," Trevor said as he pointed to some tree. I slowly nodded as it made sense.
"So we're both an archer, that's cool," I said as we walked to the tree. Trevor bend down to grab his bow and arrow as he slowly nodded at me.
"I grew up with it, you?" Trevor asked and I slowly shrugged my shoulders.
"I always loved the arch in school, with rubber arrows but I started practicing it professionally when your gang and mine got into a war," I explained to Trevor and he slowly nodded at me. Out of a sudden we heard a couple of wooden cracks and I immediately pulled Trevor behind a tree with me. I motioned to him to be quiet and he nodded to me. Distant whispers came closer until I unraveled what they were saying. I heard Trevor's name and my eyes widened. His gang was looking for him. I held my bow tight as I silently grabbed an arrow. Trevor did the same once he figured out it was his gang. Once the voices came really close I decided to walk away from the tree. I immediately fired my arrows to some of the gang until I saw the leader was among them. Trevor shot down some of his gang as well and we stopped firing once the leader was the only one left.
"Trevor Fireson, there you are," The leader said as an evil smirk formed on his face. My face turned to disgust as I held my arrow sharp in his direction.
"I'm here, but not for you," Trevor said and I slowly looked into his direction. He held his arrow towards the leader as well and I knew I made a good decision by trusting him. After all, he did the blood oath. The leader turned to me which caused Trevor to face his back, awful decision.
"Delilah Scott, the one who started this all," The leader said and I rolled my eyes at him.
"And also the one who makes it out alive," Trevor said and before the leader could even raise a finger, Trevor's arrow fired and it drilled the leader's heart. The arrow was halfway out of his body and because the arrow went through his heart it caused him to be dead instantly. "Come on, let's get out of here..." Trevor said after a few minutes of us staring at the dead body. The war was over, we wouldn't have to fight for our lives anymore, it's over...
