Delilah

A massive headache overwhelmed me when I slowly opened up my eyes. The bright lights burned my lids and I immediately shut my eyes again. I groaned softly as I held my hand against my head. When I felt courageous enough, I opened up my eyes and looked around to see where I could possibly be. The whole room was pitch black, except for the floor. I frowned as I slowly got up. I had been laying on the floor. I walked over to the large, bulletproof window and all I could see were trees and bushes.

"I see you are awake," I heard an unfamiliar voice say and I immediately turned around. A woman stood in front of me now. She had a black suit on, as black as this room. I looked at her from head to toe, she had a slim figure, long blonde hair that was in a high ponytail. I frowned softly at her as I didn't recognize her.

"Who," I whispered softly. "Who are you?" I asked her as I came a bit closer. Two large men joined the woman and it seemed like they were here to protect her. I crossed my arms as I was even more confused now.

"I am Miranda Walker, the head of A.R.C.A.D.E.," The woman said and I raised an eyebrow at her. I sat down on a bench near the window, hoping to get more of an explanation.

"What is A.R.C.A.D.E. and why am I here?" I asked Miranda and she sat down beside me eventually. Her whole attitude seemed formal and unimpressed. There was one frown, on top of her forehead that never seemed to disappear. Her lips were thin and pressed against each other as she was trying to read me as well.

"How much do you remember of yesterday?" Miranda asked me. She completely ignored my question and I was starting to get annoyed. I inhaled deeply as I closed my eyes.

"I was walking with Trevor, we were finally in town after hours," I said as I was thinking back to my last memories. "Everything had been quiet in town, like nothing had happened, until..." My eyes sprung open as I remembered being taken down. I looked around to find Trevor but it was just me, Miranda and the two men protecting her. "Where is Trevor?" I asked her and I was starting to get furious.

"Easy," Miranda said as she now inhaled deeply. I balled my hands and saw the blood disappear from my knuckles. Trevor and I were a team until we were back to where we belonged. Miranda stood up as she nodded to the men. They left the room and I observed everything silently. "Come on," Miranda said as she walked towards the door as well. I slowly followed her as I kept looking around, I didn't trust these people.

"Lilah?" I heard a familiar voice say and my head immediately turned around. I was in another room, with more windows. The room was as pitch black as the other but it seemed more open because of the large windows. In front of me was Trevor, with a black eye and bruises on his head. I immediately ran up to him and sprung in his arms. I felt safe now, knowing that he was by my side again. I let out a relieved sigh as I felt his arm around my waist to support me.

"How long was I gone?" I whispered to Trevor once we pulled back from the hug and he had put me back on the ground. I saw him clenching his jaw and I immediately knew something wasn't right.

"We brought you here for a reason," Miranda said and I turned back to her. Her hands were folded behind her back and I saw other people coming into the room.

"What is so urgent you knocked us down and brought us here?" I asked her a bit annoyed. Trevor and I were almost back home, I wonder if Grayson was already looking out for me, or Kyle. My face dropped as I knew they were probably anxious about where I was. I should have never left the house, I should have fought by their side instead of going my own way. I promised them not to leave but as stubborn as I was I didn't listen.

"This is Justin, Alex and Ashley," Miranda introduced the other people that just entered the room. "The five of you caught our eyes and we believe you're the key for the greater good," Miranda said and I frowned at her. The greater good? Who does she think she is? God?

"She wants us to erase our memories and turn us into completely different people," Trevor said and as I looked at him I saw he was getting mad. The whole story didn't add up and I immediately looked at Miranda to see if she would confirm it.

"Wrong, we want to make you the soldiers you truly are," Miranda said and my eyes widened immediately.

"You're insane!" I said to her and I grabbed Trevor's hand. "Come on, let's get out of here," I said to him as I dragged him with me towards the door to head out but instead, the two large men moved and blocked our way.

"I'm afraid I can't let you leave," Miranda said and I was starting to get pissed off. I inhaled deeply to try and hold my anger.

"Tell me why we would do what you want?" I asked her as I turned back to her. What Miranda was asking of us was impossible, not even a lost soul would do what she asked of us.

"Because you have nothing to lose anymore," She said. She nodded to one of the large men and he gave me a tablet. I saw camera footage, of people I didn't know. I frowned until I saw Grayson, Ethan and Kyle passing by on the screen. "People who know all of you think you're dead," Miranda said and my eyes started to tear up. I was aching to be with Grayson, to be in his arms and to hear him saying everything was going to be ok. My finger traced down his figure in the tablet and I sniffed my nose.

"I'm sorry, Lilah. This is all my fault," Trevor said as he put an arm around me. "If you hadn't met me, you would be with him by now," Trevor said as he pulled me into a tight hug. I tried to hold back my tears as I buried my face in his neck. I shook my head as I pulled away from him.

"Don't think like that," I whispered to him as I looked him in the eyes. I gave him a small smile as I slowly turned back to Miranda. "I need to hear the full plan, from inside out before I make a decision," I said to her and she nodded at me.

"Sure, head this way," She said as she walked towards another door. As she held it open I saw it was full of weapons and training devices. In the middle of the room was a table with chairs around it. Miranda closed the door behind us as I sat down on a chair and looked around the room. "I knew you were the smartest of the whole group," Miranda said and I immediately looked at her. She sat down in front of me on the opposite side of the table.

"Why me? Why us?" I asked her as I still didn't get what was going on. It felt like I was in some bad dream I needed to experience.

"There are things in this world, dangerous things, that the police nor the army can handle. We from A.R.C.A.D.E. have been keeping eyes on you since we can remember," Miranda said as she put pictures on the table. "We just waited for the right moment to capture all of you," She eventually said as I stared at the pictures. They were all of me, at work, at Kyle's home. Even in my apartment and at Grayson's house. I looked back at Miranda, hoping for more details. "You, Delilah Scott, are the solution to end all of the things we can't solve on our own," Miranda said and my eyes started to tear up again. It hit me, knowing there was no way out of this, I ended up here and this is where I was supposed to be.
