Delilah's POV
It was time for my daily walk with Tal. I had already put on my running shoes and I was waiting for him at the door. For the past few days I had been thinking about my life, but I never came far. It felt like there was one big void in my memories. I never seem to remember anything from the night when I woke up with Tal beside me. It felt like I didn't even had a childhood and just woke up as a teenager. "You ready?" I asked a bit too quickly when I saw Tal running down the stairs. He nodded at me as he opened up the front door and left the house with me. I inhaled deeply before we started jogging. We never had a destination to go but I had one favorite place. It was on top of the mountain, near the Hollywood sign. When it was dark outside you could see the beauty of Los Angeles. The whole city was lit up and it was so quiet and peaceful. I usually went up there to think about everything, mostly about my life. I couldn't remember when my life was ever normal. It seemed like I had been working for the government my whole life. Doing all of their dirty work. Tal and I just went around a corner and I thought it was a good idea to have a break and get breakfast somewhere. We needed to keep our life as healthy as possible for the government. Usually we just had simple tasks, like protecting a warehouse with top secret equipments and products, but sometimes we needed to do heavier work I wouldn't want to think about much. My breathing was heavy when we stopped in front of a brunch bar. I leaned against the wall for a minute before I walked in with Tal. We sat down at a table and ordered our drinks as we got the menu card. I inhaled deeply, looking at the choices I got. I wasn't really focused as my mind wandered off. Once again I was twisted up in my own mind games. I was in a constant battle with myself, trying to figure out where the void in my soul came from. My ears were picking up some raffled words but I ignored it. "Izzy!" I suddenly heard Tal firing at me. With widened eyes I looked up at him as he looked at me with discomfort.
"I-I'm sorry..." I whispered shyly. I felt ashamed for zoning out while I was sitting here with him. He must think I was crazy or at least losing my mind.
"I asked if you already know what you want." Tal said as he looked unamused towards me. I slightly shrugged my shoulders and looked at the menu card. I looked at the options and my mouth slipped out the first things my eyes saw.
"I will take the toast with avocado and scrambled eggs." I said before I could think about it. I put the menu card down and sighed deeply. What has been going on with me for the passed few weeks? I never seemed to get a hold on something, like my body wasn't on the same line as my brains. I sighed once again, looking around in the bar. There were many stereotypes here, from joggers to business people. My eye fell on a dark haired boy, staring right at me. I frowned softly as his eyes seemed to be looking right through my soul. He didn't blink, he just kept staring at me like he was a statue. I immediately looked away when I started to feel awkward. It didn't happen quite often when someone stares at you like that. I didn't know him, right? Or did I... I shook my head while rubbing my cheek. I felt a bit overwhelmed and needed some way out. "I am..." I spoke up. Where was I supposed to go? "To the toilet." I finished as that seemed the most common and obvious answer. I stood up, a bit too fast as I needed to catch my chair quickly before it fell down. With quick passes I tried to catch the toilet. I felt some sort of adrenaline and panic rushing through me. I didn't seem to notice my surroundings. Well, it wasn't like I was paying attention at all. I felt like I needed to get to the toilet as soon as possible but my way was blocked. I bumped into someone and felt myself smash against the wall.
"Oh, I am so sorry!" I heard someone say. I looked up and saw the same guy who was staring at me standing in front of me. I frowned again as there was something up about him. Seeing him from up close I felt like I knew him from somewhere.
"Do I know you?" I asked him softly. I saw him struggling with talking, he probably couldn't find the right words.
"Delilah?" He asked and frowned even harder now. He must have been mistaken me for someone else as that wasn't my name. I slowly shook my head as I felt sorry for him. I saw he was going through a lot as he had massive dark circles around his eyes and his bones were quite showing off.
"No, my name is Izzy." I said and he immediately pulled out his phone. He showed me his background, a girl who looked very familiar to me.
"Are you at least related to her?" He asked and I immediately shook my head. I don't have... I don't have a sister... Did I even had family at all? I only knew Tal and some friends but I couldn't remember having a father or a mother...
"I..." I spoke softly. My panic started to rise back up when I thought about having a family. "I don't think so... I don't know my family..." I whispered as I kept staring at his background. I immediately ran away when I felt the void inside of me growing. What was happening to me?
