Delilah
The next thing I know was a loud banging sound repeating itself as I slowly opened up my eyes. I gasped for air once I realized the banging sound. When I looked to my right I saw Stefan standing in the middle of my room, clapping two frying pans against each other the whole time. Once he noticed I was awake he stopped and laughed out loud. I felt like punching him until I realized Grayson was beside me in bed. He was slowly waking up and I didn't wanna make a scene knowing he was by my side.
"What the hell is your deal, Stefan?!" I said in shock as my heart was still beating extremely fast. I ran a hand through my hair as I got out of bed and walked towards Stefan. I grabbed the frying pans out of his hands as he was laughing about it.
"Just wanted to wake you up," Stefan said nonchalantly. I rolled my eyes at him and put the frying pans on my bed beside Grayson. I walked to my closet and grabbed some sweatpants I stole from Grayson a while ago.
"Here," I said to Grayson as he got out of bed and grabbed the sweatpants from me. I looked at Stefan and saw he was a bit confused of why Grayson was in my bed in only his boxers.
"Don't even start about it," I said to Stefan and walked out of my room. Because of the way Stefan woke me up I was a bit annoyed. I made a cup of coffee and as I did I grabbed an extra cup for Grayson. I didn't know what was going on between me and Grayson but I could at least make coffee for him.
"Good morning, princess," Kyle said as he gave me a kiss on my cheek. I smiled softly at him as I took a sip from my coffee.
"What's the plan for today?" I asked him as I leaned against the kitchen counter. Kyle sat down on a bar stool as he was checking his phone.
"I will let some guys check if most of the people took shelter or went out of New York," Kyle said. I slowly nodded at him as I got lost in my thoughts while drinking my coffee. Every year again we don't just fight for our own lives, it's way more then that. The bad guys always try to take over New York and that's why we need people to take shelter or leave New York for at least a week. I wasn't only fighting for me and my friends, but also for the population of New York.
"Good morning," I heard Grayson say as he walked down the stairs. I looked up to him and saw he was still shirtless but at least wore the sweatpants. I smiled softly at him as I saw his tattoos better now, I could see a portrait, a moon with clouds around it and many more.
"I made some coffee for you," I said to Grayson as I handed him over the cup. He grabbed it and smiled to me thankfully.
"I've heard from some bees that you slept together," Kyle said and I saw he didn't like it. I rolled my eyes again as I grabbed my phone. As I heard someone come into the kitchen I looked up and saw Stefan.
"Oh, hello there, bee!" I said and I saw Stefan was confused. I also heard Grayson choke on his coffee but once he was fine we both laughed because of what I said to Stefan.
"Good one," Grayson said as he held his hand up to me. I gave him a high five and still chuckled about it. "What's the deal between you and Stefan, by the way?" Grayson asked me and I looked from him to Stefan. Just now I realized Grayson didn't know about any of this for all these years. He never knew about this mission that the gang got every year.
"In case you haven't noticed, I was on the same high school as you. When you and Ethan left to Los Angeles, Finn made me keep an eye on Delilah. We kept a low profile and she only called me whenever she was in danger," Stefan explained as he made a cup of coffee for himself. "You can say, I'm a bonus brother to her because there isn't a single thing she can't come to me for," Stefan said as he wrapped his arm around me. "Right, Lily?" Stefan said and I slowly nodded at him.
"True, even though I hate the fact you call me Lily because my name is either Delilah or Lilah," I said and raised on eyebrow at him. Stefan chuckled at me and said down on another bar stool beside Kyle.
"Actually," Kyle said as he was looking at us while biting his nail. "Stefan is the only guy you go to in these times, whatever there is you immediately look for him," Kyle said and he was right.
"That reminds me," Stefan said and I saw Kyle rolling his eyes. He wasn't amused this morning. "How about you and I go on patrol while getting your favourite ice cream?" Stefan asked. I guess he must have heard Kyle saying he needs someone to check the city.
"I'm in!" I said in excitement and put my coffee cup away immediately. I ran towards the stairs and Stefan followed me.
"You need a proper breakfast!" Kyle screamed to us as we ran up the stairs.
"No, we need ice cream!" I yelled back to him as I almost stumbled across my own feet. Stefan and I laughed about it as we ran towards our rooms and got ready.
Grayson's POV
"Is this who she is now?" I barely asked above a whisper to Kyle. Seeing Delilah happy with Stefan made me realize I indeed might have lost her, even if she wouldn't admit it. She can make me sleep in her bed but in the end I'm not in her heart anymore. I couldn't blame her, it was my own fault. I treated her like garbage and this was my payback.
"For now," Kyle said as he drank his coffee. "Look, Grayson," Kyle said as he must have seen I was in my feelings. "Delilah suffers from a rare traumatic problem. I think she got it in the year you left because in that same year this all started. She tried to press it all away and this was the consequence," Kyle explained to me and I looked him slowly in the eyes.
"A rare traumatic problem?" I asked him slowly as his words didn't make sense. Delilah was always the happy one, the one that cheered everyone else up by just walking into the room. She never felt sad, she always kept going and found something positive in everything and everyone.
"Yes, it's something her personality and brain built up. You can see it as some sort of... anxiety. Once you get it, you will never get rid of it. It will get better, but you can never lose it," Kyle said and I saw he felt bad about this, for Delilah. "But we wanted the best for her, so we made her choose if she wanted some medication or not. She wanted the medication, but only when she fell back into it," He said and I slowly nodded at him.
"Do they work?" I asked slowly as I was thinking about everything Delilah had to go through. I could punch myself right now, I should have been there for her.
"Yes, mostly. I didn't want her to take some shitty medication so I went to the best doctors there were and they gave us some medication that was specifically made for her," Kyle explained and I nodded again. I hid my face in my hands as I let out a deep sigh.
"I just want the best for her..." I slowly whispered as I tried to hold back my tears. I just wanted Delilah to be happy, to be the person she always wanted to be. Someone who could change the world for the better, end the climate change, end the racism and body shaming. She always wanted to be someone people looked up to, but how can she be a role model now if she is in a constant battle with herself?
