Delilah
"It was too easy..." I whispered to Trevor as we've been walking around these trees for a couple of hours now. The whole time I was thinking about how easy it was to kill the leader. It seemed too easy for me, isn't the first rule to know your surroundings? The imagine of the arrow peeking out of his body was stuck in my mind as well.
"What was?" Trevor asked as he put his hand on my shoulder that caused us both to stop walking. I slowly shrugged my shoulders as I licked my lips. Damn... I was thirsty.
"I keep feeling like this isn't over, it was too easy to kill him, like he knew," I said and let out a deep sigh. Trevor put his fingers on my chin and slowly pulled my face up so I looked him in the eyes.
"It's over, we're safe," Trevor said and I saw the certainty in his eyes. I slowly nodded at him as I gave him a small smile. "Even now it's all over I'm not leaving your side. That blood oath somehow tells me not to," He said as he looked away to see where we would be heading now. I laughed at him as I slowly shook my head.
"Come on, I think I know where to go," I said once I saw a streak of light roaming through the woods. We slowly started walking again and I noticed my throat was starting to feel like sand paper, it ached for water. Once I saw the grass and trees were becoming less I knew we were heading the right way. We were at the edge of the forest and my happiness overwhelmed me. Right in front of us was a long road now, the road that led to New York. I big smile grew on my face as I grabbed Trevor's hand and started walking faster. Sometimes we stopped because our legs were weak. I don't know how long we've been in the forest but I sure know our stomach was aching for food and our throats were kurk dry. We were now just a few steps away from entering the city with the large buildings. I saw people walking around, going to work or school. Even if it was already dark, life never stopped.
"We're here..." Trevor said and I saw a big smile form on his face. I slowly nodded at him as we walked into the city. People didn't seem to notice us as we looked around like we saw New York for the first time. Out of a sudden we got pulled away into a van as our mouths were blocked from screaming. We tried to fight against it but I felt my body becoming weaker by the second.
Grayson's POV
Delilah has been missing for three days now. Last night the enemy put their weapons down and left the city. It was unusual and definitely weird but I guess we were all too happy that it was over and not think about it twice. Slowly people came back to New York and peace returned to this city.
"Any sign of her yet?" Kyle asked me as I was checking the camera footage from around the city. I slowly shook my head at him as I was biting on my finger nail. My mind was preparing for the worst while my heart was hoping for the best. Kyle was looking at the footage from behind my shoulder when suddenly the doorbell rang. Kyle and I looked towards the kitchen as we saw Stefan walking towards the front door. The gang was still around in case we needed them. Ethan and Emma were safe and went back to Los Angeles. I promised Ethan to call him immediately when I knew something about Delilah so that explains why I haven't talked to him for the past few days.
"Guys..." Stefan yelled. Kyle and I immediately ran towards the front door, hoping it was Delilah. When we saw police officers and men in black suits we knew something was wrong. The tears already started to form in my eyes as I knew why they were here.
"No..." I whispered as I shook my head. This can't be happening, it's all just a dream. Come on, Grayson, wake up! I fell to my knees on the ground as I heard the police officers saying something about their condoleances. I hid my face in my hands as the tears were streaming down my face.
"We're sorry to tell you that we found the burning ashes of Delilah Scott," I heard someone say and flashes of Delilah being burned to death ached in my mind. It can't be... it couldn't be that horrific, please...
"Was it quick?" I asked softly as I looked up to the men. I saw their faces dropped and I felt a stabbing pain in my heart.
"She's gone..." Kyle whispered to himself as I saw he didn't believe it. He leaned against the wall and a sob escaped from my mouth. I was the one who needed to protect her, that was my job... She's dead because of me...
