Lilah
We were in the car, driving towards the house of E and Gray. Lisa and Cameron stayed there as well because she wanted to be close to her family. I understood that someone so important just faded away and they needed each other. It was silent the whole time in the car. I sat in front of Lisa who drove, so I didn't have to be in between Ethan and Grayson. It was kind of awkward because no one knew what to say, we all just listened to the radio playing.
"Do you wanna..." Ethan tried to ask me something but I jumped out of the car immediately. I didn't want to act like I was ok with them abandoning me for these years. I got to the trunk and tried to get my bags out of the car, but it was too heavy for me. "Let me," Ethan said as he laid his hand on mine who was on one of the bags. I looked at him in hesitation before I pulled my hand away from him and he got all of my bags out of the car. I looked down at the ground because I felt like I was being too dramatic. "Do you want me to help you unpack?" Ethan asked and I slowly looked up to him. I saw how Grayson stormed out of the car and went inside his house.
"I'm fine..." I declined Ethan kindly as I slowly grabbed my bags. I saw the sorrow and pain in Ethan's eyes as I walked past him towards the house. I could hear him walking behind me and I felt his hand on my arm who slowly turned me around.
"Lil, please..." Ethan begged me and I saw how the tears formed in his eyes. "I need you..." Ethan continued as a tear escaped from his eyes. "I know I've been a bad friend, and I probably deserve you pushing me away but please..." Ethan said and I dropped my bags to the ground.
"You indeed deserve it, but you know I can't push you away. Not in these moments..." I told Ethan as I slowly pulled him into a hug. I could hear his sobs getting louder and my shirt getting wetter. I slowly rubbed his back as he wrapped his arms tightly around me. In all those years that I've known Ethan, I had never seen him cry. I had to push my feelings away at this moment because Ethan and Grayson just lost a parent, and if I'd push them away I'd be selfish. They were always there for me too when I felt bad for not having a father.
"Come on, we'll take those bags inside and grab some ice cream," I told Ethan as I slowly pulled away from the hug. His eyes were red from crying and slightly swollen. He slowly nodded at me as he picked up a few bags. We went inside the house and Ethan brought me towards my room, well... the guest room.
"Come on, E. my bags can wait," I said as I saw Ethan wanted to help me unpack. I slowly grabbed his arm and we walked back downstairs. I have never been to this house so Ethan brought me to the living room as he grabbed the ice cream from the kitchen. Grayson was on the couch being busy on his phone. I sat down beside him and he didn't even notice me. I could feel my phone ring in my pocket and I grabbed it immediately, it was Mr. Taylor...
"Hello, Mr. Taylor," I said hesitantly as I picked up the call.
"Mrs. Scott! I know you're on a vacation but I need you to do some work. My reserve assistant isn't quite good." Mr. Taylor spoke and I had to laugh a little because of it.
"Send me the work per email and I will do it," I told Mr. Taylor. He thanked me before he hung up.
"Taylor? From Taylor Enterprises?" Ethan asked when he sat down beside me. He must have heard the phone call. I felt my cheeks turn slightly red as I nodded my head. "Cool!" Ethan said and I had to laugh because of him.
"Can I maybe borrow your laptop? I need to do some work..." I breathed out as I looked at Ethan.
"But only if we hang out after you're done," Ethan said and I rolled my eyes at him.
"No, I'm not hanging out with her," Grayson said and I immediately turned my head towards him in shock. Since when was I the bad guy?
"What the hell?" I shot at Grayson as I grabbed his phone out of his hands and locked it so I had his full attention. "YOU abandoned ME when you moved away! And still, I am here to support you guys! So I suggest you act up before I punch you in your face!" I defended myself as I threw his phone on the couch. I bet they had never seen me this angry before. I changed a lot since they left...
"She's right, Grayson. We don't even deserve her presence and yet here she is." Ethan said and I looked at him with a thankful look.
"Oh yeah?" Grayson said as he stood up. "Where were you all the time?" Grayson shot at me and I could feel the anger built inside of me.
"You changed your numbers! I tried everything! Do you know how it feels when a part of your soul just leaves?! I cried my eyes out every night, hoping you'd come back but YOU ABANDONED ME!" I yelled at Grayson and I didn't even notice I was crying. Ethan stood up and wrapped his arms around me. Grayson just kept looking at me without any emotion.
"Don't listen to him, he isn't the same Grayson as before," Ethan whispered to me and I saw Grayson clenching his jaw.
"I guess I never even knew him," I said as I pulled myself away from Ethan's grip and stormed towards the door.
"Where are you going!" Ethan asked in concern but I ignored it completely. I tried to not let my emotions get in the way but Grayson ruined that for me.
I was running, but I didn't know where I was going. I just kept on running and running until I saw where I was. I was on a mountain, and I could see the whole city, it was so small from here. I said down on the ground against a tree as I rethought of everything that just happened. I could feel my phone buzz in my pocket but I ignored it. It probably was Ethan, but I don't want to talk to him right now. I wanna be alone.
