Chapter 39

Once in the hospital, the wound on my arm was cleaned and bandaged. It hurt like hell, but it wasn't half as bad as the others' injuries. I was constantly rushing between multiple people's rooms.

Kirishima had immense bruising and lacerations all over his body, but it was nothing life-threatening. He was completely covered in bandages though.

Tamaki had a large fissure-like wound on the right side of his face, but it would heal without a trace. It would just take a while.

Fat Gum had numerous bone fractures, but he was doing fine. He kept complaining about being hungry.

Apparently, he and Kirishima fought a battle so intense that he used all his fat reserves to block a villain's punches. In the end everything worked out okay, although Kirishima got seriously injured.

Rock Lock was very lucky. He was stabbed, but the blade missed all of his internal organs.

Aizawa had to get ten stitches and Mirio was pretty beaten up, but mostly everyone would be fine.

Eri, however... she still hadn't woken up and her fever wouldn't go down. She was quarantined and we weren't allowed to visit her.

Her quirk was incredible. It was called 'Rewind' and it basically meant that she could turn back a person's time. It didn't work on objects. I heard that to defeat Overhaul, Midoriya used a large amount of his power. Way more than he could handle. Thanks to Eri on his back, he wasn't injured. She reversed the injuries before he could even feel them. But then Eri lost control, and you know what happened next.

We found out that the Eightfold Cleansers had some kind of cooperative relation to the League of Villains. Both Toga and Twice had been stationed with the Cleansers, but they didn't seem to like that very much. When Uraraka asked about 'the other Deku' she meant Toga, who'd turned into Midoriya to flee the scene. That was her quirk.

I was just on my way to see Mirio when he burst out of his room. A nurse hurried after him telling him he shouldn't be out of bed, but he didn't listen. I hurried after him when he barged into another room.

"Sir Nighteye!", he said as soon as he opened the door.

"Senpai!", Midoriya exclaimed.

I briefly looked around the room. Midoriya was there as well as Aizawa, Bubble Girl and Centipeder. One face I was more surprised to see was All Might's.

"Mirio...", Nighteye croaked from a hospital bed.

"No! Please don't die! You can't go! You just can't!", Mirio shouted as he clutched the side of the bed.

I went to stand next to Midoriya with a sad look. Sir Nighteye wasn't improving. He had an oxygen mask on his face and dozens of tubes were sticking out of his gut.

"Mirio... I've made you experience... so much hardship...", Sir Nighteye weakly said. "If only I had... been more astute."

"You taught me everything!", Mirio cried out. "It's because of you that I've gotten so strong! And it's because of you that I'm still alive here and now! Please, you have to keep teaching me! You can't die!"

"Senpai...", Midoriya said as the tears started streaming down his face.

"It's alright", Nighteye croaked as he put his hand on the side of Mirio's tear streaked face. "You are becoming... an outstanding hero... This is the only future... that we shouldn't change. So please... keep smiling."

He was getting weaker by the second.

I felt the tears streaming down my face and grabbed Midoriya's hand. We both tried to smile through the tears.
