I felt like I was back at Cadmus. Klarion had made a deal with Mark Desmond, also known as Blockbuster. He wanted the Genomorphs to experiment with.

Before this, I was Midnight. When my Mother died and her ring chose me, I happily served Oa. After one in particularly confronting mission, I quit. I ran away with Klarion who at the time I thought was my age, and my friend.

The year that followed, I thought I was on top if the world. John and Hal were always tracking me, always chasing, but I was never caught. I adapted the name Midnight. It was due to the midnight blue mana I could control with my own magic aura.

Klarion did some research in the Witch World, and told me he had heard of my magic before. I had the abilities of a Songstress. Musical entities that could control mana and cast normal spells through song. It took me a while to realise that it was only my power Klarion was interested in, not me.

Often I'd find the Emerald Ring in odd places, like my pocket or even on my finger. I'd throw it as far away as possible, but it'd always find me again.

Over time, I fell in love with Klarion, and he had me convinced he loved me too. I was truly happy...until Raven Blight came. She too was of the Songstress race.

Klarion made me join him in stalking her for two weeks, before he made the move to kidnap her. He said she had remarkable magic aura.

Instead of resisting like we thought she would, she happily joined. Let me tell you; three is a crowd. She was like a third wheel.

Only, Klarion began paying more attention to her. She became Dark Faery. Dark Faery, Witch Boy and Midnight. We made hell for humans in Star City. It became so, that I was an enemy of Green Arrow and Speedy.

Then our last mission from Klarion came. It had been in planning for a while. Originally, I was meant to infiltrate the Justice League by being Black Canary's protege.

The plans changed and instead, Raven went in disguised as Lola Grace, using only one part of her power. Her fairy wings were made of the pink mana she controlled.

So she joined the team and her mana changed to pale blue. With everything set in place, she fed information about the League's move on Cadmus, straight to Klarion and I.

When it came time to take on Robin, Kid Flash, Lola, Aqualad and Cadmus' creation Superboy, Lola was supposed to 'fake die' after we put on a fight.

Boy was I double crossed. With Klarion watching from the shadows, unseen by the team, Lola tried to kill me quite literally. I followed the plan anyway and the four members of the team cried about someone they've known for a week, dying.

When they left, Raven (Lola) got up when Klarion walked out. They shared a moment, both turned to me and attacked. I went into shock and probably would have died, had the ring not appeared on my finger again.

I left the two -and Teekl- inches from death, and found John and Hal. After that I spent more time on Oa and Earth. Then I joined the team.

So that's how I knew who the purple flash belonged to. Dark Faery. She and Klarion alongside Abra Cadabra, attacked us.

I guess I couldn't be recognised. When I was with Klarion, I dressed like a seriously gothic weirdo and had blue hair. Without even so much as a glance our way, he followed Wally and Kent into a giant bell.

Readying myself, I created a whip of emerald mana and swung it straight at her. She dodge rolled away, and Abra Cadabra began fighting with the others.

She really didn't recognise me.I guess in the past year I really had changed. I shot disks at her and closed in. If I get her far enough away from the group, I should be able to use my vocal power.

We engaged in hand-to-hand combat. I kept getting a shove on her shoulders, producing mana from my hands to push her away even further.

Then what I hoped wouldn't happen, happened. Out of nowhere, her wings sprouted out and she darted up with my jacket in her hands.

I let out a high (pun not intended) scream as we got higher and higher.

"Bye-bye," she looked down at me with an evil grin, and released me. Wind rushed into my face and I couldn't breath. I hate falling almost as much as I hate water.

What Dark Faery didn't know was; Emerald Star can fly. So when I only got half way down and began flying, she shrieked with annoyance.

"Who are you!? Which one of the league dragged you in?!" She yelled the two questions at me whilst throwing balls of mana at me.

I blocked them with an Emerald shield.

"My name's Emerald Star. I'm Green Lantern's protege," I replied simply, before doing multiple mid-air spins, sending Emerald streams towards Dark Faery.

They encased all but her head. I glanced at the team. They were a long way away, and getting defeated quickly. I had to help them.

They shouldn't hear me, from this distance.

I let a soft tune out quietly. I then sang the spell in the same tune; "Etak eht sehctiw sgniw rof efil!"

Immediately, my eyes glowed a storm of blue and green. A blue and green glow incased my body, and also Dark Faery's.

Eventually she began screaming in agony. Her wings where being taken away. I lowered us a bit more, and threw her hard into one of the golden staircases, knocking her out cold.

I turned to look at the team. They wre back on their feet.

"Ha-na-!" A voice whispered, dragging out every vowel in my name.

My head snapped to where I had thrown Raven. I just managed to get a glimpse of his pale grin, disappearing in a cloud of red magic.

"It was awesome! Scary, but awesome!" I told Robin actively when he came to Mount Justice the next morning.

"I have to say Little Star, you've got some pretty good moves!" Wally grinned, ruffling my hair.

"Wally's right!" M'gann agreed with a grin. "She was great! Took down Dark Faery better than anyone else I've ever seen!"

I wasn't used to this kind of attention for my powers. Usually, all the Guardians of the Universe would say is, 'thanks.'

Perhaps not in that way or manner, but they were not particularly greatful.

"It's strange..." Robin wondered aloud. I turned to him expectadly.

"What is?" I asked.

He seamed to suddenly realise I was talking to him. "Nothing," he smiled with a cover-up. I frowned.

~(Robin's POV)~

I left Star talking with Artemis and Miss Martian. I think she was disappointed, but I needed to talk to batman.

I found him in the mission room with Black Canary and Green Arrow. Batman turned towards me as I entered. He noticed my expression immediately.

"What is it?" He asked with his dark voice.

"Batman, who is she?"
