~Lacy~
“Lacy honey, what’s wrong?” Lillian asked as I walked down the stairs.
“It’s fine. I’m fine,” I said then rubbed under my eyes.
“Honey you’re not fine,” she said, grabbing my shoulders.
“He broke his promise”
“Who did baby?”
“Luke did. He said he’d keep the ring on but he lied. He left it off Lil. He left it off,” I said then began to sob.
She pulled me into her chest, as best she could, and let me cry into her shoulder. It was only a few minutes before I heard Chris and Markus’ footsteps.
“Lacy what’s wrong?” Chris asked.
“Luke broke his promise,” I said rather loudly.
“What did he do?”
“He took his ring off and left it off,” Lillian explained.
I’d already explained the rings to Lillian and Chris so they understood why I was upset, “looks like I need to buy a plane ticket and some knuckle busters,” I chuckled softly before lifting my head from Lillian’s shoulder.
“I’ll go and clean up then we can go yeah?” I said then went back upstairs before anyone could answer.
I washed my face then quickly touched up my makeup before grabbing my bag and heading back down. We walked to the car and got it, Chris plugging in his phone to play some music.
“Where are we going?” Markus asked.
“It’s a surprise,” Chris chuckled.
“But I want to know”
“Tough,” Lillian smiled.
“Can you at least hint?” I asked.
“We’re eating first then we’ll be sitting for about an hour and a half,” Chris told us.
“Sitting,” I said, stroking my imaginary beard. “I know!”
“Shh!” Lillian told me.
“Can I say?”
“No or you’ll ruin the surprise”
++++
“Yes!” Markus cheered once he saw we were heading towards the theatre.
“What are we seeing?” I asked.
“How To Train Your Dragon 2,” Lillian smiled, obviously pleased that we were excited.
“Yeah,” I said then high fived Markus.
We started doing our happy dance and I heard both the adults laugh. While we were waiting in line I kept hearing my text tone. I pulled my phone from my bag and when I saw Luke’s name I threw it back in.
“What’s wrong love?” Lillian asked.
“Just Luke,” I shrugged.
“You should call him”
“I don’t really want to speak to him right now”
“You’ll be thinking about it the whole movie and you won’t enjoy it. Just give him a call,” she urged so I rolled my eyes.
“Fine,” I said then stepped out of the line and away from everyone.
It only rang twice, “thank god you called,” I heard him say.
“What do you want Luke?” I asked.
“I’m so sorry Lacy. I didn’t think and I know I hurt you a lot. I know it doesn’t mean anything now but I’ve got the ring on and I promise to keep it on,” I went to speak but he interrupted me. “I swear on my life I’m going to keep it this time. I love you so fucking much and I haven’t been the best boyfriend since I’ve been away. I just hope you can forgive me”
“I’m about to go into the movies so we’ll have to talk about this later”
“Alright. Well…I love you”
“I love you too,” I replied. “Bye Luke”
“Bye gorgeous,” he said then I ended the call.
I walked back to my family and couldn’t wipe the smile off my face, “so everything worked out then?” Lillian asked.
“Yes”
“I’m lost,” Chris told us.
“Don’t worry dad. Nothing you need to get involved in,” I told him.
“I’m your father. It’s my job to be nosy”
“Get too nosy and I won’t be so nice”
“Alright you two. Can we go now? I’m super excited and I don’t want to miss a second,” Markus told us.
We started following him but he got frustrated at our pace and decided to drag us along, “calm down soldier,” I laughed.
“It’s general to you”
“I-I,” I smiled, saluting him.
