Markus and I had to wait in the hall while the court was in session. After my outburst at the first trial they decided it’d be best if we sat outside. Markus had his iPod in his hands, playing some game he’d downloaded for free. He always downloads games for free, plays then a couple of times then leaves them. It shits me off. (Based off my little brother). I was texting Carolyn while we waited. It felt like it’d been forever since I’d seen her. We’d spoken to Jezzy and Francesca since they’d left but it was a minimum.
The big doors opened, Joy storming out and Chris and Lillian emerging with Jonah, “what happened? Did you win?” Markus asked in a rush.
“Hopefully we’ll never have to see that woman ever again,” Lillian smiled.
“Oh my god!” I squealed and hugged them both.
Markus ducked under my arm and joined in the group hug, “I finally have my family back,” Chris smiled.
“Can we get our stuff from Joy’s now?” Markus asked.
“That’s exactly what I had in mind,” Chris told him.
“And can we get celebratory ice cream?” I asked.
“Sounds even better”
“Yeah,” I said and high-fived Markus.

Joy stood in the kitchen with a bitter face the whole time we were there. Lillian decided to stay in the car with Jonah in case things took a turn for the worst. All we had to get was our suitcases and anything other lose things we had floating around.
After we’d put everything in the boot I stared back through the window and saw Joy leaning against the bench still. I looked at the car then back at her before deciding something that even shocked me. I started walking towards the house when Chris called my name.
“I forgot something. I’ll be back in a sec,” I told him the re-entered the front door.
I stood in the arch way leading to the kitchen and dining room, “come to rub it in more? I get it kid, no need to make it worse,” she grumbled.
I walked right up to her and wrapped my arms around her waist, “goodbye,” I whispered.
Once I’d let her go she stared at me in utter shock. I walked out and shut the front door behind me. When I got in the car I was given strange looks.
“I have my reasons and they shall remain with myself until I wish to share them,” I said then buckled myself in.
“I don’t get you,” Chris said simply.
“No one gets me. That’s the point of being an individual. No one can understand your reasons because you are different. If everyone was the same then life would be boring. And as much as I want to slit that woman’s throat in her sleep, I am still half of her and I was in her “care” for sixteen years. She is a dark piece of my history that I am letting go and at the very most she disserved a goodbye,” I explained.
“Shit! Lacy’s getting all philosophical,” Markus laughed.
“That was very deep Lacy,” Lillian smiled.
I shrugged, “at least with you guys I can share my opinion”
“Now for ice-cream,” Chris smiled.
“Ice-cream!” Markus and I shouted but got told to be quiet down.
I looked down at Jonah and ran the back of my curled finger along her jaw. She really was gorgeous. She yawned and scrunched up her face causing me to chuckle softly.
‘That’s creepy lacy. Staring at her like that,” Chris taunted.
“Fuck off,” I scoffed. “Shot’s first dress up”
“Oh my god,” Markus face-palmed.
“I just though. Dad’s going to have to do tea parties and fairy dress ups”
“Princess Christian. I like the sound of that,” Lillian teased and he rolled his eyes.
“When are you having a boy?” Markus asked.
“Talk to Lillian,” Chris told him.
“Maybe in a year or two,” she smiled.
“Yeah! Cars”
“You have enough cars,” I told him.
“You can never have too many cars,” he told me.
“When she’s ten Markus will be twenty one,” I pointed out.
“Stop it,” Chris scolded.
“And I’ll be twenty seven. Almost twenty eight”
“You’re not eighteen yet,” he smiled.
“I know but in like…three weeks I will be”
“What do you want to do for the occasion?”
“Get wasted,” I smiled.
“We’ll see,” Lillian told me.
“I want a costume party”
“Oh my god,” Lillian laughed loudly.
“Hey! I’m forever five years old in the brain so back off”
