“What about him?” I asked and gestured to a guy standing in the line to Macca’s.
“Lacy stop,” Sam chuckled.
“I’m trying to help,” I pouted.
“I know but it’s not helping,” he told me.
“Sorry,” I said and slumped in my chair.
“It’s…” I heard him trail off so I looked up at him.
He was staring at something behind me in a daze like state. I slowly followed his gaze and smiled when I saw what, who, he was staring at. I turned back to him with a smirk. When his eyes finally flicked back to me his face dropped.
“Oh no,” he said.
“You think he’s cute,” I pointed out.
“So?”
“Want me to talk to him for you?” his eyes widened and he quickly shook his head.
“No! I man, it’s ok…really”
“Too bad,” I said then got up.
“Lacy no!” he begged.
“Excuse me,” I spoke up, his eyes landing on me.
“oh,” he said in surprise.
“Hi,” I smiled.
“Hello,” he replied.
“Are you gay?” I asked bluntly.
He chuckled nervously, “uh…”
“C’mon mate I don’t have all day,” I told him.
“Yeah I am. Why?”
“See that guy at the table over there?”
“The only with the flushed face?” he asked.
“That’s him. That’s my friend Sam and I caught him checking you out. I was hoping you could maybe go over and have a chat to him. If it’s not too much trouble,” I explained.
“Uh, sure,” he smiled, making me smile.
“Perfect. He can get very shy so just be patient with him,” I said then walked over to stand in the line for Boost.
I saw Sam’s face light up like a kid on Christmas when the guy sat in the chair I was once sitting in. once I got to the counter I ordered my Energy Lift and stood to the side, watching the two chat. I felt excitement bubble in my stomach when Sam handed the guy his phone and vice verse. When I got my smoothie I approached the table that now only Sam sat at.
“How’d it go?” I asked, sitting down.
“I uh,” he chuckled. “I got his number,” he blushed.
“Awe! What’s his name?”
“Jessie,” he smiled then licked his lips.
“I am the queen of set ups,” I smirked and started doing my happy dance, which made him laugh.
“I owe you,” he told me.
“A new band tee and we’re even,” I said, holding out my hand.
“Deal,” he said and shook it.
“Now, which shirt to get,” I said stroking my imaginary beard.
“I haven’t seen a Sleeping With Sirens one in your arsenal,” he pointed out.
“True! So it’s settled. Sleeping With Sirens it is”
“I guess so. Can I have a sip?” he asked, gesturing to the Styrofoam cup in front of me. I slid it over and he too a sip then slid it back over, “that’s nice”
“It’s my favourite,” I smiled.
“C’mon. Let’s go find your payment,” he smiled.
“Yay,” I squealed.
I drabbed him from his seat and kept hold of his hand as we walked around. We entered Rockaway Records and scanned the CDs and vinyls before searching through the shirts. I ended up picking a green tee shirt with a 1970’s styled woman head on the front with her eyes blacked out with what appeared to be a Sharpie line and the band name on the front.
“You like your repayment?” he asked.
“Yes. Thank you Sam,” I smiled and kissed his cheek.
I heard a scoff from behind so we both turned, “problem?” Sam asked sassily.
“It’s disgusting You cheating on Luke,” a girl who looked about thirteen spat.
“I’m sorry but she’s not cheating. Considering I’m gay and all,” he told her.
“Likely story”
“Just ask Luke. He knows Sam’s gay. They’re friends too. So go into the female bathrooms, remove your head from your ass because it’s not a hat and go home you stupid twelve,” she, Sam and the cashier stared at me with mouths gaped before I tugged Sam out of the store.
“That. Was. Epic,” he told me and I just shrugged.
“Bitch had it coming. Next time my fist will kiss her face”
“Snap,” he said and clicked his fingers in a Z formation.
We both burst out laughing, “ok…maybe you are fabulous”
