(Lets just skip to the weekend because yeah)
“Dad!” I shouted then ran up to him, clutching him.
“Hey baby girl,” he smiled.
“Dad,” Markus smiled and ran up too.
“Hey bud,” he said, picking him up after he was done hugging me.
“I’ll be here at six on Sunday to pick them up,” Joy told him.
“Fine,” he said then guided us inside, Markus sitting on his shoulder.
I laughed when Markus had to pretty much fold in half so they could walk through the door. I put my bag by the door and turned to Chris.
“Where’s Lillian?” I asked.
“I’m right here,” she smiled, walking down the stairs.
“Hi mum,” I smiled, hugging her carefully”
“Hi baby,” she said, tightly hugging me. “How have you been?”
“It’s hell there,” I pouted and she took my face into her hands.
“Awe baby. You’re here until Sunday so we’re going to something special”
“How’s my sister?”
“We’re getting a sister?” Markus screamed.
“I thought you told him,” I laughed.
“I guess I forgot. She’s fine”
“Got any names yet?”
“We have a few,” Chris smiled. “Let go and sit in the lounge room”
“What are the names?”
“Like what?”
“We were thinking Jonah Marie”
“Why?” Markus asked.
“Well…since your middle name is Jonathon we made it more feminine, hence Jonah and Marie, just like Lacy’s middle name,” I bit my lip and felt my eyes start to well up with tears.
“Really?’ I asked, hearing my voice break.
“Yeah sweetie,” Lillian told me.
I pulled them both into a hug and Markus joined in, “you guys are the best,” he told them.
“I don’t want to have to go on Sunday,” I said, wiping under my eyes.
“We know baby but you have to”
“It’s not fair. Why did she win?”
“We don’t know honey. But let’s try not to think about that while you’re here. We want this to be happy and fun”
“How’s Luke Lacy?” Chris asked.
“I actually, wouldn’t know”
“What?”
“We haven’t spoken in a while”
“Why not?”
“He just won’t answer”
“Does he know about…”
“No. it’s been over two weeks since we’ve spoken”
“That’s not good”
“I can’t have both right?”
“Both what hun?” Lillian asked.
“Jezzy home and Luke on the other end of the phone line”
“He still should pick up the phone,” she told me.
“He’s busy so it’s understandable. Hay Mark, have those boys stopped giving you trouble?”
“Haven’t since you spoke to them”
“That’s good”
“Yeah. They’re kind of scared of me now”
“Good. If they start again then just threaten to hit them and say I’ve been teaching you”
“Could you teach me?”
“I could teach you both how to hit properly”
“Sweet!” we both chanted.
“Oh gosh,” Lillian chuckled.
“I’ll take you to the boxing ring tomorrow morning then we’ll show you your surprise tomorrow afternoon”
“Awesome!”
