“Lacy, you’re going to have to give her back soon,” Chris told me.

Besides Lillian, I’d probably gotten more cuddles than anyone. I rolled my eyes at him and he glared at me.

“Lacy”

“Just leave me be. I don’t know when I’ll get to see her again,” I said rather loudly, but not loud enough to stir Jonah.

“Chris,” Lillian chuckled.

“She agrees with me,” I taunted.

“I’ll confiscate her,” he warned.

“I’ll kidnap her”

“We know where to look”

I saw a puffed Sam arrive at the door, worry in his eyes, “run,” he told me.

“What?”

“Joy and the cops are here. Run,” I carefully handed Jonah to Lillian then sprinted out of the room.

I followed Sam down a hall but one of the cops was waiting. We turned to run back the way we came but another cop was there too.

“Oh shit,” I swore.

“Young lady. You need to come with us,” the one we’d seen first told me.

“I’ll scream,” I warned. “I’ll do it and trust me…it ain’t pretty”

“She will,” Sam told them.

“You’re in so much trouble Lacy,” Joy said, appearing from thin air.

“Fuck you,” I spat.

“Stop!” Chris demanded as one of the cops grabbed my arm.

“You did this,” Joy accused him.

“You’re in violation of the custody agreement,” the other cop told him.

“No I’m not,” Chris told him. “We get them every Friday from four until six on Sunday. It’s four twenty mate. This is our time with the children and you can’t take them Joy will be in violation of the custardy agreement,” he explained with a smirk.

I suppressed a laugh along with Sam as we took in the look on Joy and the cop’s faces. The cop who had my arm still in his hand let me go and they walked off, leaving Joy.

“This isn’t over,” she told us.

“But it is. We’ve been speaking to our lawyer and we’ll see you in court on Wednesday Joy,” Chris said and she scoffed before walking off.

“Yes!” I cheered and high-fived Sam. “You’re the coolest dad every,” I shouted and hugged Chris.

“I try,” he smiled.

“Why are you going to court?” Sam asked.

“We found some things that could help us win you back”

“Like what?” I asked.

“Well, the fact that you ran away is one. But the fact that it’s been almost a month and she’s just gotten the cops involved is another”

“Lacy!” Markus shouted and ran up.

I bent down and hugged him tightly, “they didn’t hurt you did they?”

“I’m fine. Joy looked pretty pissed when she was walking out of here,” he smirked.

“It’s ‘cause Chris’ lawyers have found a way to get us back”

“Yeah,” he cheered.

“Where’s Katie?” Sam asked.

“Still out there. I should be getting back to her,” he said then ran off.

I stood up and turned to Sam with a smile. We suddenly latched onto each other, both laughing.

“I guess I’ll have to get used to you not being around anymore,” he pouted.

“Dude, I’m still always coming over to take the piss out of you and eat your food,” I assured him.

“I’m going to hold you to that,” he smiled.

“You’re seriously one of the best friends could as for”

“You only like me because I’m gay,” he chuckled.

“You’re not very fabulous,” I teased.

“I seriously think you’re gayer than me sometimes,” he told me.

“That’s called being a girl mate. It’s all Luke’s fault. He made me soft and pushover-ish”

“You are nowhere near a push over,” he said and punched my arm softly.

“We could go dude spotting,” I suddenly let slip.

“I don’t think Luke would like that,” he chuckled.

“I’m allowed to look,” I told him.

“I guess looking is ok”

“Looking is perfect as long as you don’t do”

“Why do I get the feeling you’ve been in a similar situation?”

“Because I have,” I shrugged.
