“Sammy,” I said happily as he opened the door.
“Lacy,” he said and hugged me back. We pulled back and he looked down at Markus, “sup little man?”
“Make a move on my sister and I’ll punch you in the balls,” he warned.
“Alright. Katie’s in the living room,” he smiled and let us in.
“Markus!” she shouted then ran up and hugged him.
“Hey Katie,” he smiled.
“Wanna watch Fairy Odd Parents with me?”
“Yes,” he said excitedly then followed her.
“She so wants him,” Sam chuckled.
“And how are you all of a sudden an expert on women?” I asked smugly.
“Well it started when I was born you see. all the bitches at day care wanted my attention and I just knew it. I just have this hunch and girls like you prove my theory,” he babbled and I punched his arm.
“I am extraordinary, remember?”
“I remember perfectly well. Why did you call me might I ask?”
“My boyfriends gone for four months and three weeks”
“Ok. Next question,” he said clapping his hands together. “What the actual fuck is going on?”
“Got a chair and juice?”
“In the kitchen,” he said, dropping his head to the side.
“Perfect,” I smiled then followed him.
“Why juice?”
“I’m thirsty and water is too mainstream,” he chuckled and got me a glass. “You want some?”
“Nah, thanks though,” he said and sat on a chair at the bench. “Do I get my explanation now?”
I put my finger up and brought the glass to my lips. I skulled the whole thing then wiped my mouth on my sleeve.
“Do you want the whole story or the story about me running away?”
“Well I never really got to know your life story so I would like the whole story please”
“Well…my mum and dad were married until he found out she was cheating on him and got pregnant with another man’s baby. After Markus was born she started doing drugs until she got hooked. She ended up losing her job because she wouldn’t turn up and soon they ran out of money. I dropped out of high school on my last year to get a job. After Luke and I broke up for the first time I got wasted and stabbed myself with a broken piece of glass from something and the ambulance needed to be called. One of the paramedics must have see the drugs and shit on the coffee table because next thing I know, she’s in jail and Markus and I are in my dad’s care. I was finally settled in and happy but my Satistic mother decided to emerge from nowhere.
So we had to go to court and she got custardy. I don’t fucking know how but she did. So I’ve been even meaner and moodier since then. I only get to see my dad every second weekend and it kills me. So we found out on Sunday that some lady from the system is coming to inspect the house and stuff. They don’t know we’re gone yet so I hope they get into trouble for not knowing where we are. Also, my mum’s back together with Markus’ dad who doesn’t give a single fuck. So yeah, here we are,” I smiled.
“Very heavy man,” he spoke making me laugh. “We all cool to stay?”
“Yep. Dad’s away and mum doesn’t give a shit so we all cool,” he said and I laughed again.
“I will always wonder why I’m friends with you”
“You’re lucky”
“How?”
“You dodged a bullet”
“How?”
“You not being over Luke”
“Oh,” I said and dropped my head.
“Dude no!” he told me. “It’s a good thing. You’re happy with him and I figured out something about myself”
“Oh yeah? And what’s that?”
“I’m gay,” he said and I choked on my saliva.
“What? For real? Like for real for real?” I asked as I coughed.
“Yeah. Is it a bad thing?”
“No! oh my god no Sam! I’m just shock that’s all”
“Why?”
“Because…we kissed and we dated and I just…wow”
“Well to be honest, you were kind of an experiment”
“How so?”
“I’d been questioning my sexuality since I was fourteen and I was almost certain but I didn’t know so I just wanted to see what it was like…to have a kiss with a girl so fresh in my mind”
“How did you first find out?”
“I found this guy in my science class extremely attractive. Then I found out he was gay and I had my doubts because…c’mon we were fourteen. But he asked me if I’d ever kissed a boy and when I told him no he asked me if I wanted to. So we kissed…and I loved it. Then I kissed a girl a short period of time after and I liked it…but not as much”
“Hence the love,” I joked and he rolled his eyes.
“Anyway. I dated this girl for a while when I was about…sixteen but it didn’t last long. And I just stared to lose interest in girls all together and I started finding more and more guys attractive. So yeah. There’s the story of how I became gay”
“Except you left out the part about asking me out”
“Well, I did find you attractive, I do find you attractive. But I’m just not…into you if that makes sense. I was kind of just holding out for the kiss to see if I liked it. Now don’t get me wrong! You’re a grate kisser and everything…but I just didn’t enjoy it”
“The only reason I’m not hitting you right now is because you complemented me so many time,” I joked and he smiled.
