Safe in My Hands

Maia and Tiffany looked at each other when they both realized they got voicemails from Jill. Tiffany showed her phone to David to show him that Jill left a voicemail. David did a slight eye roll. Tiffany picked up the voicemail. There were many pauses in between her words.

“Hey, thanks girls for the invite. Means a lot, I can clearly see I’m not wanted. I’m feeling the love; I can’t believe you didn’t even ask me. I can’t help but feel left out. If you’re doing this on purpose to like make me upset, then congratulations it’s working. I can’t believe it, my own friends doing this to me. Wow,” Jill said in the voicemail.

They all huddled together to the phone to listen to the voicemail so they don’t have to replay it.

“What is her problem, I don’t get why she’s so mad. It’s for school and nothing else. We would have invited her if it wasn’t for school,” Tiffany said.

“I don’t know what to do, I don’t want her to be mad,” Maia said.

“We can talk to her and explain later, shouldn’t we practice?” David said to them trying to ignore it.

“Yeah we should,” Tiffany said.

They put away their phones and took out their sheets and stood up in a line to practice singing.

Tiffany started the singing of Safe in My Hands. “Always standing just outside of the circle, no one lets you in,”

“Blame it on yourself, but you’re looking through the mirror of a broken window,” Maia joined in.

“Shut it out all the noise that you let in, let it go just fade away. If you could only see there’s only light we think they’re shadows,” David joined.

As they were singing, they started to move a bit from their line they were in.

“Holding you close and I don’t care who’s watching, let the street lights guide away. Tell me times will change, they won’t look at us like were broken, a strange,” they sang and made hand gestures.

David started looking towards Maia when they were singing the song. Maia noticed and started to look at him too.
