Jaclyn's POV:

After practice we all went out to eat for lunch. After lunch we went back to Ticos house to hang out.

Around 4 Tico took me back to my house. I did some school work and waited for everyone to get home. Around 6:30 Dean walked in.

Jaclyn: you smell charbroiled. Rough day?
Dean: yeah. Apartment complex went up in flames right before we clocked out. I'm gonna go shower.
Jaclyn: okay.

I did the dishes and waited for dad to get home. I was putting them away when he walked in.

Jaclyn: you smell charbroiled too
Jack: yeah. A bit crispy.

We both chuckled and he went to go shower. Dean left and went to a friends house for dinner so it was just dad and I.

Jack: let's talk about last night.
Jaclyn: okay.

I sat down at the counter top and dad stood on the other side.

Jack: do you really feel like you can't trust me?

I looked down at my glass of water and bit my lip.

Jaclyn: last night I did. When Dean came home and said y'all had gotten off hours ago it just brought back all the memories of me getting my hopes up and actually trusting people then getting disappointed.
Jack: you told Dean you were getting used to the disappointment like usual last night
Jaclyn: yeah
Jack: honey. I do not ever want you to feel like that.
Jaclyn: you didn't even text me. I would have been fine if you just would have at least texted me.
Jack: I'm so sorry.

I got up and walked over to him. I hugged him and cried. He wrapped his arms around me and held me. I felt a couple tears hit my arm.

Jaclyn: Pruitt and I talked about it last night.
Jack: what did he say?
Jaclyn: that you are far from a person who I can't trust. You love me and I need to try to open up more.

He just squeezed me tighter and kissed my head. He pulled back and wiped the tears from my eyes.

Jack: he's right. I love you. I love you with every ounce of me. It shattered me thinking that you didn't actually trust me.
Jaclyn: I'm sorry.
Jack: baby. Don't apologize.
Jaclyn: I'm trying my best.
Jack: it's okay. I promise. I of all people understand.

I just squeezed him tighter and shed a few tears. A few minutes later I pulled back and wiped my eyes.

Jack: we good now?
Jaclyn: yeah.
Jack: I love you sweet girl.
Jaclyn: I love you too.

He kissed my head and we went to the couch and turned on the TV.

A few days later

Jacks POV:

Jaclyn and I have been doing good. She's been going to therapy regularly and has actually been writing a lot lately. Dean and I left early for work for engine checks. Jaclyn has the day off today so she's staying home and having a me day.

We were at the station for a few hours when a call came in.

Dean: that's the house.
Sullivan: everyone speed it up.
Jack: Jaclyn's still at home.
Sullivan: double time.

Everyone sped up and jumped in the trucks. When we got to the house everything was in flames. Dean and I jumped out in shock.

Sullivan: Miller and Gibson. Stand by.
Jack: rightfully sure my daughters in there.
Sullivan: that is why you are staying.

Everyone suited up and went in. What felt like an eternity later I saw Ben come out with Jaclyn. Jaclyn came running over to me.

Jaclyn: dad!
Jack: it's okay. I'm right here.
Jaclyn: (crying) I woke up and there was smoke everywhere.
Jack: shhh. It's okay. Let's go to the ambulance.
