Chapter 12

Jaclyn's POV:

I was laying in bed when dad came in.

Jack: can we talk for a minute?
Jaclyn: yeah.

I scooted over and he laid down next to me.

Jack: so Maya and I are seeing each other.
Jaclyn: I know.
Jack: yeah. Things are getting more serious so I just wanted to talk to you about her being around more.
Jaclyn: okay.
Jack: okay?
Jaclyn: dad. I didn't think you'd be single for forever. You'd finally meet someone. I just didn't want you hiding them from me.
Jack: I wasn't trying to hide her from you. I just wanted to make sure it was gonna work. You've had so many people in and out of your life I didn't want that to happen again.
Jaclyn: Thanks

He leaned over and kissed my head.

Jack: Alright. I'm gonna go cook dinner. What do you want?
Jaclyn: I don't care.
Jack: Okay.

He left and I kept laying in bed and watching TV. About 30 minutes later I got up to go get something to drink and saw Maya and dad in the kitchen. I got in the fridge and got something to drink.

Maya: Hey
Jaclyn: Hey

I got my glass and went back to my room while I finished my show and dad finished cooking.

About 20 minutes later

I was watching Netflix when dad knocked on my door.

Jack: Dinners done
Jaclyn: Okay

I got up and grabbed my phone and cup and went into the kitchen. Maya was making everyones plates. I refilled my cup and sat down. Then Maya handed me a plate.

Jaclyn: Thanks
Maya: No problem

We all sat down and ate dinner.

Jack: What do you have this week?
Jaclyn: I have to go to the school Tuesday to take some exams. Then Wednesday I have practice at 10 then a small show at 8.
Jack: What about Thursday and Friday?
Jaclyn: Thursday I don't think I have anything and Friday I have a write session with Tico in the morning before he goes to work. Why?
Jack: You still need to go take your permit test. I have Thursday off so I figured we would go then.
Jaclyn: I don't waaannnaaa
Jack: Too bad.
Jaclyn: I already know everything
Jack: So just take the test.
Jaclyn: Fiiine.

I rinsed my plate off and put it in the dishwasher. I put my stuff up and stood next to dad. I wrapped my arm around his neck and leaned against him. He wrapped his arm around me and kissed the side of my head.

Jaclyn: I'm gonna go work on homework.
Jack: Okay. I love you.
Jaclyn: Love you too.

I went back into my room and worked on some homework. I laid in bed and watched my films I needed to watch for my assignments.

A couple hours later I walked out to get a drink and saw dad and Maya laying on the couch watching a movie. Not gonna lie. It was awkward as hell. I got my drink and went back to my room. I was checking my work email when I saw one that caught my eye. I grabbed my phone and called Tico and yelled for dad. Dad came running in.

Jack: what's wrong?
Jaclyn: oh my god.

Tico finally answered.

Jaclyn: I think we got the big summer opener headliner spot for all country shows.
Tico: (on the phone) no way
Jack: what?
Jaclyn: it's that opener headliner spot I was telling you about. I was stressing a few weeks ago about it.

I put Tico on speaker.

Jaclyn: (reading the letter) In regards to your submission for the headlining openers position I am pleased to announce the committee has selected you.
