Chapter 33

Jaclyn's POV:

Tonight's the first show since Lauren died. Tico and I decided to do a little memorial thing for her. I'm gonna sing Temporary Home and have pictures of her, her mom, and I. Her moms gonna come for a bit but mostly to see that part. She's gonna sit side stage with Trisha for it.

I was sound checking when I saw dad (Lucas) walk in with abuelo.

Jaclyn: (into the mic) Abuelo!!

I set my guitar down and ran off the stage while taking my ear pieces out. I ran over to him and gave him a hug. He laughed and hugged me.

Abuelo: Hola mija.
Jaclyn: What are you doing here?
Abuelo: I figured I'd come out a bit early.

I smiled and hugged him again.

Abuelo: Now go finish!!

I laughed and ran back up on to the stage. I grabbed my guitar and finished sound checking. After sound check I put my stuff up then Tyler came to do his sound check.

Jaclyn: Hey, can we sound check One Beer?
Filmore: Of course.

He grabbed his stuff and did his sound check. I walked over to dad's and abuelo.

Jaclyn: I'm gonna sound check our collab song once he's done. Y'all can go back to the bus if you want.
Jack: Okay.

I went back up to the stage and waited for him to finish. The band came back and we did One Beer. He started it then I joined in. We both got into it and jumped around while singing. We got super close while singing. I backed away slowly and we finished out the song. I gave him a hug then we both left. I got back to the bus and kicked my shoes off at the door. I picked them up and went back to my room. I changed quickly and met dads and abuelo near the car.

Abuelo: Hi my love.
Jaclyn: Hi.

I walked over and gave him a hug. He kissed my cheek and we got in the car. I got into the drivers seat and looked at dad (Lucas) smiling.

Jaclyn: I'm surprised you're letting me drive.
Lucas: Just please don't kill us.
Jaclyn: Promise.

I laughed and we left. We were driving down a boulevard when Trisha called me so I answered it through the car. I talked to her for a few minutes then I parked and we all went in to a restaurant for lunch.

After lunch we went back to the bus and abuelo got his stuff settled. I got a text from the girls and went over to their bus.

Jaclyn: I'll be right back. I've gotta go to the girl's bus.
Lucas: Okay

I grabbed a jacket and slid on some sandals then went to their bus.

Jaclyn: What's up y'all?
Maddie: So we have a delema.
Jaclyn: What's up?

I sat down on the edge of the couch arm and set my keys down.

Maddie: Two of our band members can't perform tonight.
Tae: Micheal broke his foot this morning and is at the hospital then Sam is sick. Like he ain't getting out of bed.
Jaclyn: Okay so what do they do?
Maddie: Micheal plays keys which we can do for some songs but Sam does bass.
Jaclyn: Let me figure something out. Y'all are gonna play tonight.
Tae: We don't want you to stress about it.
Jaclyn: No it's fine. Let me figure something out and I'll come back.

I grabbed my stuff and went over to Filmore's bus.

Filmore: Hey
Jaclyn: Hey, so can you play bass or have a bass player Maddie and Tae can borrow tonight?
Filmore: Uhm I can play bass some but I have Mike that I can give.
Jaclyn: Okay. Their bass and keys player can't perform tonight. Micheal broke his foot and is in the hospital.
Filmore: Holy shit.
Jaclyn: Yeah and Sam is like sick sick so he's out. They can do keys on some songs so I'll do the keys on the other songs.
Filmore: I can do bass as long as it isn't insane stuff.
Jaclyn: Okay. Thanks.
