Chapter 24

Next day

Jack's POV:

I got up around 8:30 and started to make breakfast. About 30 minutes later Jaclyn came out.

Jack: good morning
Jaclyn: ehh.
Jack: how ya feeling?
Jaclyn: like crap. My head and shoulders are killing me.
Jack: here. I made some pancakes. Eat something and I'll get you some medicine.
Jaclyn: alright.

She sat down and ate while I went and got her some medicine. I came back in and gave her a glass of water and the medicine.

Jack: that should help.
Jack: thanks.

I finished cooking and sat down with her and ate. I was halfway through eating when she laid her head on my arm.

Jack: whatcha watching?
Jaclyn: funny fail videos.

We sat there and watched the videos for awhile while I ate. After breakfast we cleaned everything up and got dressed.

Jack: Are you up to going to the hospital?
Jaclyn: sure.
Jack: I know your dad really wants to see you.
Jaclyn: I really don't know if I can go in there.
Jack: well let's at least try. I'll be right there with you.
Jaclyn: okay.

She got up and made a coffee before we left.

When we got to the hospital we were walking down his hall and she stopped.

Jaclyn: I just need to stop for a minute.
Jack: okay.

I texted Vic that Jaclyn was going to try and come see Lucas. She texted back and said he was sleeping so it might be easier.

A few minutes later she grabbed my hand and we walked down to his room. I peaked in and saw he was sleeping.

Jack: hey. He's just sleeping right now. Let's just go in and sit down on the couch. We can talk to your mom while he sleeps.
Jaclyn: okay.

I slid the door open and we stepped in. As soon as we stepped in she tightened her grip on my hand.

Jack: it's okay. Let's sit down.

We went to the couch and sat down. She sat her coffee down on the floor next to us and held onto my arm. We sat there and talked with Vic for awhile.

About a hour later Lucas started to wake up. Jaclyn was curled up to my side asleep.

Vic: hey babe. Look who's here.
Lucas: she came in?
Vic: yeah. While you were sleeping they came in.
Lucas: how did you get her in?
Jack: it wasn't easy but I just convinced her to try to come in. You sleeping made it a little easier.

He nodded and leaned back. The nurse came in and checked his vitals and everything. About 30 minutes later Jaclyn started to wake up. We all just sat there and waited to see how she was going to react.

She re situated and laid her head back on my arm. She was starting to wake up but was staring at the floor. I kissed her head and rubbed her arm.

Jack: did you have a good nap?
Jaclyn: yeah.

I looked over and Lucas looked asleep.

Jack: I'm going to go get something to drink. Want to come with me?
Jaclyn: yeah.

She got up and grabbed her cup. She watched over and gave Vic a hug.

Vic: love you baby.
Jaclyn: love you too.

We walked out and went down to the cafeteria and got something to drink. She washed her cup out and filled it up. We got our stuff and went back up to his room. Before we got to his room I took her cup from her so she didn't drop it or anything.
