Chapter 49

Jaclyn's POV:

It's been a couple days since dads episode at Joes. He's tried to call me a couple times but I ignore them. I was laying in bed while Tyler showered when mom called me.

Jaclyn: Hello?
Lucas: It's me.

I immediately hung up. I tossed my phone on the bed and kept watching TV. Tyler came out of the bathroom and got dressed.

Jaclyn: How's your leg?
Tyler: Good. It's only kinda tired but that's it. 
Jaclyn: Good.

He sat down on the bed and put his socks on then laid in bed with me. I rolled over and laid my head on his chest. We were laying there when my phone went off again. I grabbed it and saw Robert calling me.

Jaclyn: Hello?
Robert: How ya doing?
Jaclyn: I'm doing fine.
Robert: Are you sure?
Jaclyn: Yeah.
Robert: Why don't you let me take you out for lunch? Take your mind off anything. 
Jaclyn: Okay. 
Robert: Plus I wanna talk about proposing to Andy.  
Jaclyn: Uhm yes.
Robert: Alright. I can pick you up if you want.
Jaclyn: That's fine. I'm at Tyler's. 
Robert: Alright. I'll text you when I leave.
Jaclyn: Alright. See ya in a few. 

I hung up and stretched in bed.

Tyler: Who was that?
Jaclyn: Robert. He wants to go to lunch. He's proposing to Andy in a few days or so and wants to talk about it and about what happened with dad. 
Tyler: Ahh. 

I sat up and ran my hand through my hair. I got up and went to the bathroom and got ready. I got dressed and put on some high waisted jeans with sandals and a white flowing tank top. I grabbed a cardigan and threw it in my purse. I was putting my earrings in when he knocked on the front door. Tyler was in the kitchen so he went and let him in. 

Robert: Hey man. 
Tyler: Hey. She's almost done.
Robert: No worries.

I was grabbing my stuff when I heard Robert ask Tyler something.

Robert: How is she doing?
Tyler: She's doing okay.
Robert: Good. Lucas is.. I don't even know what's wrong with him.
Tyler: Yeah. 

I walked out and grabbed my purse off the counter. 

Jaclyn: Hey!
Robert: Hey! Ready?
Jaclyn: Yeah. Let's go.

I walked over to Tyler and gave him a kiss. 

Jaclyn: I'll see you later.
Tyler: See ya. 

We walked out and got in his truck. When we got to the diner we went inside and sat down.

Robert: How ya doing sister? 
Jaclyn: I'm doing okay.
Robert: Are ya really?
Jaclyn: I think so. I just try to not think about it. Have you checked on him? He keeps calling me but I refuse to answer it. 
Robert: Yeah. 
Jaclyn: How is he? Mom sent me pictures of his face. 
Robert: (chuckles) Yeah. You did a good one. He's okay. He doesn't remember much from that night. 

I nodded and took a drink of my soda. After we ordered we sat there and kept talking. We were talking about him proposing to Andy. I was looking at a picture of the ring on his phone when he looked up and I swore he saw a ghost.

Jaclyn: What's wrong? 
Robert: Nothing. 

I looked back and saw dad (lucas) walk in. I rolled my eyes and looked at Robert. 

Jaclyn: (Shaky voice) Did he see us? 
Robert: I don't think so. Just keep looking at my phone. I'll ignore him.

I nodded and kept looking at the picture on his phone with tears in my eyes. I put my hand over my mouth to keep from crying. I looked up at Robert and moved my hand.
