"I think summer is ending soon," I blocked the blinding sun rays with my hand over my eyes. The warm winds blowing gently, caressing our faces as we sat in the middle of a grassy meadow.

Emily sat beside me, not paying attention to me as she scribbled on her book. Once she stopped writing, she inserted the pen in a pocket of her dress and read, still not not sparing me a moment.

Giving up, I laid on Emily's lap, as she immersed herself in a book in her one hand, the other brushing my hair with her fingers. She was humming a lullaby.

"That's a lovely tune, did you make that up?" I asked.

"Mhm.." she hummed as she continued on.

"Hey baby, look at meeee... I need your attention," I complained as I pushed away the book playfully to get a clear view of her beautiful face.

She laughed and laid the book on my chest.

She looked me in the eye and smiled so sweetly.

"Wake up."

I opened my eyes to see my mother sitting on my bed, her hand on my forehead, wiping my sweat.

"Good morning, sweetheart."

"Morning Mom. Why are you here?"

"I was going to take your dirty laundry when I heard you whimper in your sleep."

"It's just the dream, I guess." I sat up and scratched my eyes to adjust to the sunlight.

With a worried tone, she pressed on, "You can talk to me about it, if you want to."

"I will, Mom. When I make some sense out of it."

She sighed in defeat. She knew me too well, that I find a way to fix the problem before telling her about it.

"Okay. Just..." her teary eyes bore mine.

I know what she wanted to say, and I know in my heart I will never hurt dad and her that way. I laid my head on her shoulder, just like I used to when I needed her to trust me, that I intend to keep the promise I made. That I will never attempt to take my own life again.

"I'm so sorry, honey. I wish I could take all your pain away," she whispered, as she pulled me into her arms.

I broke down. All these years I've been trying to hold my tears, to put up a strong facade, to keep myself composed at all times. But just like a little boy who stumbled down and got a scraped knee, just like a little boy whose favorite toy got broken, just like a boy who first experienced defeat in a basketball match, just like a boy who suffered his first heartbreak, just like a little child seeking comfort and protection in the arms of his mother, I succumbed into her embrace, letting all the emotions and pain I've suppressed fall relentlessly.

"I miss her so much, Mom." I weeped until my eyes were dry and stinging.

She held me, stroking my hair, tracing the letters I L Y on my back, patiently waiting for me to calm down, just like she always did.

I must have fallen asleep after bawling my eyes out, for when I opened them, it was already mid afternoon. On my bedside table was a glass of icy water and my favorite cookie, with a note from Mom, saying she needed to run to the grocery for our dinner.

The locket that Mrs. Hunter gave me was laid neatly beside the note. I guess Mom took it out of my drawer. I clutched it tightly, and wore it around my neck.

Somehow I felt light, as if all the weight I was burdened to carry had been lifted off of my shoulders.

After munching on the cookie and emptying the glass of water, I took the tray to the kitchen to be washed. As I turned toward the kitchen sink, I was surprised by someone rummaging into our fridge that I almost dropped the tray. Upon hearing the noises I caused, the poor soul bumped his head on the roof of the fridge.

"What the fu- Taehyung?"

He gave me his world famous boxy smile, the surroundings of his mouth smudged with chocolate.

"I really missed Auntie Min's cakes. Sorry, couldn't resist."

"How did you get in? I'm calling the police," I was about to dial on my phone when he dashed towards me and snatched my phone.

"Don't go hating on me too much, will you? Auntie let me in, said I should wait for you to wake up. And she gave me authorization to eat whatever I wanted."

I scoffed and proceeded to wash my tray.

"Hey, Yoongi, I wanted to apologize for what I did. There's no excuse. But after I did that to Mia, I felt really bad honestly. I really miss hanging out with you, we all do. And Jimin's birthday is tomorrow. And yeah, he misses you terribly."

"I'm sorry too, Taehyung. I knew from the beginning you are not from this world and your mind is a complete mess, I should have anticipated your moves."

He suddenly smiled from ear to ear, clearly getting that we're okay now. Whenever he did something to upset me, he knew he was forgiven once I comment about his peculiar way of thinking. Without a warning, he wound his long arms around me and picked me up like a ragdoll, swinging me side to side, my feet dangling in the air. What is it with these people, just picking me up and hugging me whenever they want to, and without my consent?

"Can you put me down. This is so awkward."

"Oh, sorry," he giggled like a little girl before setting me down.

I let him finish the chocolate cake he was eating as he filled me in with what had happened when I was avoiding them.

Jungkook finally became the new captain of the basketball team, all his hard work paid off. Jin submitted his college applications to different universities. Namjoon still broke many things. Hoseok started dating Vanna, a girl he's been crushing on for so long. Jimin and Taehyung being recognized for their respective talents in dancing and acting.

I did miss a lot, but Taehyung assured that it's not too late to catch up, though he claimed two weeks without my grumpy presense did a dent in our bond.

Ah, I guess I was too stupid, but it's normal to have these kinds of misunderstandings. It'll make the friendship stronger.

"So Yoongi, what's the deal between you and Mia?"

Every single eye darted towards to my direction. I could feel the burn as their curiosity suddenly spiked up at Jimin's instantaneous interrogation.

We sat around Jimin's room, choosing to spend his birthday with just us seven and dropping the previous plans of a house party. They said it was more enjoyable this way, since Jin and I were leaving soon for college.

"There's really nothing to tell. She seemed helpless," I denied the obvious. Jin simply rolled his eyes. He knew about my crush on Mia, but he must have read my mind and kept silent.

"I think boys are attracted to the 'damsels in distress', it's like it is in our DNA, the most natural thing for men to do," Namjoon blurted out.

"She was distressed from the start, like she wanted to melt then and there when Yoongi and I first saw her," Jin stated as he gulped down his drink. I suddenly remembered the way she looked that day. There was something off about her. Yes, she's undeniably gorgeous, but she had this charm that's unique, intricate like a mechanized treasure box, quite difficult to explain.

The conversation carried on, them teasing me, trying to squeeze out something to gossip about.

"Seriously, you gossip like old women," I mumbled.

We talked, played games, talked some more, gossip, drank til we were tipsy, just like the old days when teenage life was only about school, or just being laid back and not a care for the world. Problems were much simpler back then. Those were the best days.
