We found our way towards the ground floor, twisting doorknobs until one budged and let us in. Crouching beneath the glass window, Mia and I sat on the floor to catch our breath.

"I have to make a call. Keep your senses alive, okay?" I whispered, and Mia responded with a nod before letting her eyes wander around the room.

I pressed call, hoping he'll pick up fast.

"Yoongi what the hell! Everyone's worried about you, where the hell are you? Is Mia with you? Where the fuck have you run off to?!" Jin yelled, I was sure Mia heard him through the receiver.

"Hey, listen, we don't have much time. Remember Keila, the girl Jungkook dated once, she went missing two weeks ago, and that Jungkook was taken in for questioning because he was accused of kidnapping since he was the last person seen with her, and the police kept a close watch on Jungkook-"

"Yeah I recall, why are you whispering?"

"Jin what the fuck! We have no time! Listen, she went missing like weeks ago and reports said there are still no leads. Until now, Jungkook is still their primary suspect, speculating that he is hiding her, but we both know he wouldn't do such a thing," I gulped a lungful of air and pressed on, "We have evidence to prove Jungkook is innocent. She's dead, Jin. She was murdered by Mr. Crane and her body is hidden somewhere here in Shallow's Peak, we just have to find where-"

"Wait, these are serious allegations. Where did you get this information?"

I glanced at Mia. I needed to protect her secret. But I had to tell Jin about it because our little brother's welfare is also on the line. Then I remembered the recording Mia happened to acquire. I reached for Mia's phone inside my pocket.

"I happen to record a conversation between Mr. Crane and the janitor, blackmailing the latter that if he goes to the police, he will kill the janitor and his family."

"Okay don't hang up. Just lock the phone screen. I'll alert my uncle about this. Yoongi, be safe ok? Tell Mia help is on the way."

"Thanks, Jin, I owe you."

I slid the phone in my pocket as I grabbed Mia and went out of the staff room where we temporarily hid.

Running along the corridors past the statue of Persephone, with her hand in my grasp, I scanned for any room to hide in. Luckily I spotted a door wide open and immediately shoved Mia inside. I trailed my hands along the walls to search for a switch and when I found it, clicked it on to reveal a faint yellow glow. We were in a broom cupboard.

"Oh my god Yoongi we're gonna die! They definitely saw us, they know where we are." Mia cried, her hands over her mouth.

"Hush, baby... We're not gonna die, I'm not ready yet. And could you please switch off your third eye? It's already becoming an inconvenience to be honest-" I couldn't finish my sentiments because somehow in the small space we're squeezing in she managed to smack me with tremendous force on the head. "Ouch!! Why did you hit me?"

"It's not like a light bulb that I can switch on and off at will, Yoongi. And I didn't ask for this "gift" anyway. If I could pass it on though, I'd happily throw it right in your face!"

I was about to retaliate when echoing footsteps trudged along the hallway, making us both stop breathing. I placed a hand over Mia's mouth to keep her quiet as I bit my tongue to stop my teeth from chattering wildly. This has to one of the most terrifying experiences I have ever had in my life.

The footsteps were getting nearer to where we were. Out of instinct, I pressed Mia harder against the wall of the tiny cupboard, feeling, for the second time tonight, her breasts smashed into my chest, and I can feel how wildly her heart was beating.

Yoongi get a grip. Leave the breasts alone. This is a freaking life and death situation at the moment!!

I had to mentally punch myself to stray away from perverted thoughts. But it was so difficult because she stared straight into my eyes, and even in the dim room I can see her cheeks get darker, knowing how much flustered she was. I was lost... Again.

The door suddenly swung open, and both our heads snapped at that direction.

"Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaargh!!!!!!"

I yanked Mia behind me, crushing her even harder against the wall, blurting out random phrases out of panic, with my arms throwing agitatedly uncoordinated punches here and there to try to stall our impending doom.

"Please, sir, we're too young to die!"

"Hold on there boy..."

"Just let us go home please..." still throwing kicks and punches, more like flailing my arms helplessly.

"Wait, I'm not..."

"We won't tell anyone about what we found out!!" Mia backing me up with false promises.

"Please, mister! I wanna marry Mia and have dozens of babies..."

"Easy now, I'm not gonna hurt you... Stop, stop... STOP!!!"

Both Mia and I stopped shouting and stared, like deers in headlights, at the man standing in front of us, his arms in the air.

"Ok first, calm down. I won't hurt you."

I shot him an icy glare, "You hit me on the head and knocked me out cold!"

"I'm deeply sorry for that, but I had to. Second, the girl behind you is dying from lack of oxygen."

Mia had her hands on my shoulders pushing me, breathing heavily and looking like she's about to pass out. I stepped forward to get us both out of the small room to get some air.

"I'm Nats, the janitor here in this campus. I'm not going to hurt you. Now, we have to get you out of here before Crane gets his hands on both of you."

"How can we trust you?" I tried to sound intimidating, but I was still trembling wildly.

Still in a crouching position with hands up, he unhooked the ring full of keys from his belt and dropped it on the floor near my foot. "The biggest bronze key with the Medusa head unlocks the main hall. I've already called the police after I left you unconscious in the room upstairs."

I hurriedly picked up the clinking metals, seized hold of Mia's bony wrist and hurled ourselves towards the door. But I stopped and turned to Nats, "Why don't you come with us?"

"I can't. Crane threatens to kill my daughter if I go to the police. I tried once, but he turned the story around. He's cunning and deceitful, and willing to sacrifice innocent people to save himself. That's why I can't go against him. But I've had enough, he's dragging too much people in his mess. Now go! You're wasting your time!"

"But-"

"Now!"

We bolted towards the exit. I had difficulty placing the key in its socket because of my shaky hands. The rush of excitement and relief washed over me as I pushed open the door, safety only a step away.

Click.

"Take one more step and I'll blow your brains to bits."

Crane held us at gunpoint.
