Jungkook's POV

The smoke was visible even as we reached the farthest side of the woods. We reached the safer end where the air was at last clear and chilly. From where we stood we got a glimpse of the suburban homes illuminated with different colored Christmas lights. I can almost hear the beautiful voices of children singing Christmas carols.

Children. A child. One that Yoongi never had the chance to meet, to hold.

I looked over to Yoongi, who slumped at the side of the road, resting his arms on his knees as he breathed fast, his shoulders shaking vigorously as he was catching his breath from the travel on foot.

I felt fresh tears fall from my eyes. I know, I should be the tougher one, but after recalling those revelations straight from the culprit's mouth, I just cannot hold back the emotions that I carefully set aside, so Yoongi could draw strength from me. But I just can't.

"Jungkook, you good?" he mumbled, his head still hidden in his arms.

I quickly swatted my tears away and collected myself. But as opposed to the original idea, I was bawling my eyes out.

"Shit... I'm sorry, Yoongi. You should be relying on me, not comforting me..."

His reaction left me dumbfounded.

He chuckled as he stood up straight, his head tilted backwards. With eyes wide open, he gazed at the night sky, and began laughing.

He was screeching, pulling and tugging at his hair, he was laughing his lungs out, his torso rocking back and forth, until he exhausts himself and he falls to the ground, sprawled with his back flat on the cold pavement.

"Yoongi-"

He dropped his forearm over his eyes, and slowly his maniacal giggles turned into sniffs, and turned into the most painful sobs any human could ever make.

"My Emily... The baby, my unborn ch-child..." all the suppressed finally surfaces and confronts him, causing him to roll to his side, curling until his knees touched his chest, clutching at his stomach as anguish consumes him whole.

It was too much, seeing him like this. He wasn't the type of person to show anyone this side of him that breaks down, he usually hid from us because he knows too well how it would affect us. And yes, it's taking its toll on me. Even I cannot control my hands from reaching my stomach, mirroring his way of consoling his broken self. All I could do was slump beside him and rub his back, and let him cry until he's too exhausted.

For the first time, I was unsure. My mind instantly went blank. I wanted to say encouraging words to him, but for the first time I was terrified to say anything because nothing can make him feel any better. I'm scared that wrong choice of words would only add up to his misery.

But I had to take him home. We're both drained from tonight's task. I continued to pat his back, a simple gesture to let him know he's not alone in this, that I was willing to share his burden.

"Yoongi, let's get you home," I helped him to his feet once he's calmed.

"No. Mia. I need her. Take me to her, please."

Yoongi's POV

I wanted to see her. I wanted to run to her, to throw myself at her and weep on her shoulder, to tell her how my day was just like a little boy who seeks for safety in the arms of someone they trust.

As the triangular roof of their attic came into view, my heart went wild for a pleasant reason. Somehow, I imagined myself coming home after a long and difficult day, to enter a home where Migi will come jump at me as soon as he sees me, and I'd find Mia in the kitchen preparing dinner, I'd sneak up and surprise her with a kiss...

It's over. He's dead.

I was ecstatic and terrified at the same time. How was I supposed to tell her everything? How will she handle it?

As we come closer to the house, we were surprised to find Jin, Namjoon, Jimin and Hoseok, all huddled over Taehyung and Mia on the front porch, as if waiting for our return. Their heads snapped at our direction when our feet made crunching sounds on the frosted lawn. If the circumstances had been different, Jungkook and I would have laughed at their perfectly synchronized sigh of relief as we emerged from the darkness. And one by one, they stood up to welcome us.

"Yoongi!" She called out my name once she caught sight of me, running to me and crashing her frail body onto mine. She clung to me desperately, her arms tight around my torso as if it will be the last time she'll see me. Taehyung then approached Jungkook, asking if he's okay, which the youngest responded with a nod.

Scanning the faces of my brothers, the triumph after tonight's task was evident. The battle was far from over, but it was still worth celebrating. We may be just a bunch of teenagers, but we managed to diminish even just a small percentage of their supplies, to delay them, probably saving lives in the process, saving them from this disease called addiction.

"Hey there. Why are you still outside? It's late..." I lifted her chin, coaxing her to look at me. Her gray eyes resembled a an overflowing pool of different emotions, and once again I was transformed into the man she needed: strong-willed and steady.

Throughout the drive towards Mia's home, I was dreading that I'd let her see this side of me, the weak one, the frightened one, the vulnerable one. I thought I'd drop to my knees and beg for her to take away this pain in my mind, my heart, my soul. But then I saw her eyes sparkled once I set foot on her front yard, her yearning for me, her worry which was then replaced by relief upon seeing I was alright. And miraculously all the burden I bore on my shoulders were lifted in one swift motion, replaced by this feeling of warmth, the feeling of home.

Yes, it eats my sanity that Emily and our baby suffered terribly. I'm still shaken and in agony. But just seeing Mia, holding her, sniffing her raspberry scented hair, my pain dissipated. She truly is a healer in every sense of the word.

"Yoongi- I-" Mia stuttered. "I knew about tonight. I was so worried... And I've been wanting to help you, I needed to do something, so I begged Taehyung to bring me to my sister's house-"

Taehyung was to open his mouth, obviously nervous since he failed to do what I asked of him, but he was startled when I gave him a weak smile.

Turning my attention to Mia, I cupped her face, "Woah, Love. Slow down..."

She shook her head, then carried on, "Yoongi, Emily... She's my sister. And- and- she was- oh God, it was so horrible, what Theo did to her, and she was-"

"With child... She was carrying our baby."

Her eyes flew open, stares into mine for a second before crashing into me, her body shaking violently. Clueless, the others gaped at us, their eyes wide with confusion and glancing at us, searching for confirmation, while Taehyung and Jungkook cried silently.

"I'm so sorry, Yoongi. I saw everything, in her memory..."

"He won't hurt you anymore, Mia. Theo's dead."

She buried her face on my chest, her arms around me tightened even more, cutting off circulation throughout my body. I didn't mind at all. I wish we could stay like this forever.

"Hey, Love, look at me," I whispered, "He can't touch you ever again. It's over. It's finally over."

As if the heavens have blessed us, snowflakes started to fall, making us gaze at the dark sky as tiny flakes peppered the top of our heads and faces. I held onto her tighter, nuzzling on her hair, whispering over and over that she's safe, that I love her.

The boys began to dance around while the snowfall lasted, forgetting about the bad things that had happened.

It was the most beautiful ending.
