The cold air hit our faces as soon as we stepped out of the vehicle, tugging our jackets closer to our bodies to somehow ease the prickling caused by the chilly December air. To our surprise, not one snowflake has been spotted yet, which we were supposed to have earlier during this month. Blame it all on climate change.

The guy we were supposed to meet instructed that we park our car on the outskirts of town, which was suspicious but technically safer to keep the car unknown.

"So how are we supposed to do this? We go in and knock the guy out?" he said arrogantly as he began cracking his knuckles and joints.

"No, Jungkook. We're not here to slake your lust for violence. We just came to finish the transaction," I sighed, wishing I have gone alone. "Why are you here, anyway?"

He scrutinized me, sizing me up with a disgusted look on his face. "Have you seen yourself in the mirror lately? You're literally skin and bones. I doubt you're fit enough to disarm an opponent, seeing you haven't been working out lately. And I specifically said you're not to act alone."

"I know you're secretly expecting for a bloodbath, but no, young one. Not gonna happen."

Disappointment washed over him, making him kick on a rock and send it flying across the road.

"What are you going to do with a who-the-fuck-knows-whose-grave-it-came-from necklace anyway?" he asked.

Jungkook, Taehyung and Jimin all shrieked in disappointment when us elders decided to drop the katana and chose a silver cross adorned with black crystals instead. Even the seller was astounded, but otherwise claimed it was a good choice.

With a little help from Namjoon's superb ability to blackmail, reiterating how we were able to locate him with ease, and bluffing that we can find him however and wherever he hides, the seller gave up and finally agreed to see me.

Aaaaaand... I may have something to soften him... I needed to apologize to Mia about this.

Out on a whim, I expressed my desire to give it as a gift to a girl, careful not to reveal her name. He seemed uninterested at first, but at the mention of gray eyes, he fell enthralled and began telling a little background on that piece of jewelry I was set to purchase.

"It's a more believable choice. Besides, the katana was too pricey. And we can't have you triplets play with it, can we? You might end up killing someone..."

"Why did you plan to buy it before? The katana." He gave me that judgemental look, the one he used to give me before I planned to hang myself. He was fairly intuitive, something he might have learned from me. I would be proud, but him using it on me was incredibly annoying, knowing he can guess my intentions eighty five percent correctly with just an eye roll.

"I just like it, that's all, put it in my room for decorative purposes."

He didn't believe it. "Decorative purpose. I see."

"Can we just focus on the task, please?" I was rewinding in my head how I wanted to direct the conversation, to make it easier to squeeze out the truth from the mysterious artifact seller.

"Fine," the young one scoffed.

Our breaths grew more visible as the night grows deeper, intensifying the bitter cold. In all honesty I have nothing against cold weather, but the discomfort it creates around my nose as I inhale is so annoying. Jungkook started rubbing his ears and wrapped his scarf tighter.

"Remember, I'll do the talking, okay? You just sit there, watch out for anything suspicious."

After discussing and recalling details of tonight's plans, we braced ourselves and started collecting valuable stuff in the car before we head on. I reached for a pocket knife inside the glovebox, just a precautionary measure, when suddenly a purring noise resonated after I closed it.
