6:00 PM.

Excited was a bit of an understatement when you're supposed to pick up your date at 8:00 PM, but you arrive two hours earlier than the time she specified. My mom and dad couldn't help but laugh at me for getting ready in my fastest time yet, but mind you, I did scrub every inch of me thoroughly, even spraying half of the mint cologne all over myself. She loves that scent on me.

I parked in a shaded part of the sidewalk, thanking the huge, ancient tree for its massiveness and providing a temporary hiding place while I collect my senses and rehearse my conversation starter. I wanted to head on to their porch, but I needed to calm down first or else I'd decorate their doorstep with the undigested contents of my guts. I think I'll wait until the sun is fully down.

After Mia was done with her part in the decorations, I literally snatched her from the committee to bring her home, I just couldn't wait any longer, dying to see her in the dress I bought for her. And now, sitting here inside my car, tapping onto the wheel and waiting some more minutes before knocking on the front door, I can't discern as to why my belly butterflies won't keep still. I think I was going to be sick.

Why am I so on edge? Why do I feel so giddy? It's just a party.

And it's Mia. I mean, I see her everyday, so why make a fuss?

I almost had a heart attack when someone knocked on the cold glass window.

"Yoongi, what are you doing out here in the cold? Come inside, Mia's about to finish any minute." I gladly took Mr. Emmette's invitation because it was literally freezing even inside the car as snowflakes began to pepper the windshield.

To be honest, I was anxious. This wasn't the first time I fetched a date from her home. I thought I was okay when I left my home to get Mia, you know, just another of the normal things, but I was shivering not because of the chilly December air, my breathing labored, my heart erratic, and I didn't know exactly why.

I lingered in the doorway before closing it behind, feeling a little better as I scanned the entire living room, some memories rushing as each item sitting in it meant so much to me; the lamp table beside the window that has heard numerous squabblings, the old sofa I usually slump onto after a couple of hours doing homework, the armchair that had accommodated Mia's tiny body when we're having beautiful conversations about life, the same one she sat on when I tended to her wounds as she bravely revealed the horrors of her past.

"Mia? Sweetie, Yoongi's here."

A faint thump vibrated through the wooden panels of the upper floor. "Uhm, okay. Give me five more minutes..."

Her dad and I took a seat in the living room as we waited, both of us pretty anxious, probably about similar things. He was about to begin inquiring about the plan to renovate their backyard when we heard the bedroom door's loud click, making us move closer to the staircase, our eyes glued to the top portion of it. Mr. Emmette stood beside me with such anticipation in his eyes. The strong raspberry scent began to slowly dance in the air and bless our nostrils with its sweetness. She must be about to descend, and it sure did things to my tummy butterflies and they were restless once more.

We were then greeted by a pair of red shoes. To my astonishment, it had little heels, and she could walk in them! Its bold color accentuated the pale, slim ankles that were constantly hidden inside her favorite black knee high socks. And it was a good decision to keep them hidden because they were too sexy. Ah, I remembered one of my concerns for tonight, that she might decide to wear her school shoes or her sneakers with her frilly socks. I have no problem with that but I know I won't stop smiling about how cute and unique she would look throughout the night.
